Dialog windows not popping up (opening new tab in background)

Post by lefreak » Sat Feb 04, 2017 9:46 pm

I updated from AB Ultimate 2016 Build 12 to Ultimate 2017 Build 2 (FF engine), now I can't see the dialog windows that usually were popping up in the front - when clicking on a download link for example.

Trying to download AB from your site is a possible download.

This is also annoying because sometimes a page doesn't open because the server/browser is waiting for confirmation, but the confirmation dialog is in the background-tab and I am losing time if I don't notice it.

The same applies to the Firefox downloads, now it opens in a new tab in the background, in earlier versions it opened as a separate "AB instance".

You don't have "open new pages on the foreground" checked (anymore) under Tools?

Here they open on the foreground in 2017 build 2 with that option checked.

I restored the configuration from the old version, so no problem from there.

You never should get a download dialog as a tab, neither "about:blank"-tab in the background, nor any sort of tab, it is a bug obviously.

I have started the portable version AB 2016 Build 12 and imported the same configuration, this is what it looks like and what it should look like.
The same configuration, but the old version of AB, the last one that worked mostly fine.

What you get is just the dialog window popping up, but no new tab.

Yes, i agree on the "about:blank" new tab part, It should look like you describe above.

Obviously a bug, so fix it please Mr Anderson.

Works fine now in AB Ultimate 2017 Build 5.
Thank you!
