Upgrade fullscreen issue

Post by Dreamer » Mon Aug 22, 2016 1:50 pm

Hello, I'm back after long time.

When I try to upgrade Avant USB version, when I start it, Avant switch to fullscreen mode and I can't do anything, all panels are hidden, tab switching doesn't work, F11 or F12 to switch to window mode don't work either. It happened also the last time, I lost all my settings and saved passwords, since I had to delete my settings folder, I don't want to lose it after each upgrade.

Could you fix this issue, or help me to find what is causing that weird thing, please? I'm using FF engine, no IE or Avant addons, just FF Adblock plus addon, SK dictionary, few plugins, google update, nvidia, openh264.

Re: Upgrade fullscreen issue

Post by Dreamer » Mon Aug 22, 2016 6:12 pm

I had several error dialogs, here is the one, and the screenshot from the fullscreen issue - I have disabled always on top for the Avant window and the result is on the second screenshot, I am able to maximize main window, switch between window and fullscreen, but the fullscreen space is always there.

I think the problem is the strange Avant window style, FF engine can't resize its area to window. I can use Avant in fullscreen mode somehow, can't see the upper part of page, but I can't switch to window mode. Please help me.

EDIT: I tried to open new Avant window and close the first one, no I don't have the fullscreen issue, but this error dialog on start, always, I can use Avant if I don't click OK or close that dialog, when I do it, Avant just crash.

OK, so after some time it works good, no fullscreen, no error dialogs. However, something is wrong and and I don't like it.

I don't have a direct answer, but I ran into similar behavior once when one of Avant's processes was still running and I tried to start it. It's been awhile, so I don't remember all of the circumstances, but Avant would open, but only to a blank white screen. Going into Task Manager and killing the process worked for me. You might try that if it happens again.

hornakapopolis, thanks for the hint, but I have that error also first time I run Avant after the PC/Windows start, currently always, last few days. I just minimize that error dialog and use Avant without any problem, it's just a bit annoying.

This problem just happens in USB version? it makes any difference if you disable all your firefox extensions ?

I use just the USB version, even if I'd install the "install" version, it would be the the new settings, so I think it would be working good.

I don't have any error dialog last few days, so it's also hard to reproduce, even with my settings.

So in the last days I had this error few times:
OS: Workstation, No ServicePack
CPU: GenuineIntel, Intel P6 (Model 12), MMX @ 3390 MHz

Module name: C:\Programs\Avant Browser\avant.exe
VmVyc2lvbjogV2tCMFkyMTNKRVozYW5GMVluVlZKQ2xTT3pnbFBpSTh
...(same as above)
Right now it's another error dialog, similar as above, but different.
avantScreenshot_10032016_174331.png
Important note, I can use the Avant without any problems if I just move those error dialogs away from Avant window or minimize it, if possible. So perhaps the option to disable those error dialogs would help, if they can't be fixed.

No one seems to have found an answer for this. I just had the same thing happen today, so even though it isn't the USB version, I'm getting the same error message, so I posted here. Avant always opens fullscreen on my HP split x 2, running Windows 10 home on an upgrade a year ago from Windows 8.1. Avant version Ultimate 2016 build 12
