My capital letters in URLs are being converted to lowercase when saved in the Rendering Engine list

Why do you want to use capital letters? it makes any difference?

Yes. I don't need the rendering engine change on the domain level. It's within a directory

I don't if this was ever fixed, but it's definitely happening again in 2013 b110

Seriously?

2014 beta 5... this issue is back

(And on a sidenote, I have the About Avant dialog up right now as I'm typing this message. Didn't that used to be a modal window?)

Hmm.. I thought it was even commented on here that it was fixed at some point. I'm guessing I included the entire domain to the list bypassing the problem. I just noticed it again because I need Chrome for one app and Firefox for another site on the same domain.

Regarding the "About," I thought that previously, you couldn't do anything with the browser until you clicked/closed it? Again, I'm typing this post with it up hiding most of my text. I guess that's in case you want to remember what browser you're using and still continue to browse? Not a big deal, just found it odd

I checked the 11.7.46 version and found that the about window disappears when you click anywhere on the page. Now, it only disappears when you click the about window itself.

2015 Build 6 and still running into this. Can we please get this corrected? I've just run into my 3rd domain that needs Chrome in one directory and IE in another, but both have capitals in their URL, so the rendering engine list option is useless.

But doesn't Avant remember the capitals? though they are converted.

When you add an url with capitals to the adblocker it's converted also, but it still remembers the Capitals.

But of course this should be fixed anyway.

If it actually worked, I wouldn't care if it showed panda bears smoking pot in the list... but it doesn't work. The address isn't matching what Avant has saved and the correct rendering engine isn't being called.

And now... Avant is just cutting the directory string out of the URL completely.

Come on... I can see where the capitalization might be caused by the way the code works, but are you seriously telling me this behavior was not put in there intentionally? Why in the world would someone think this behavior is a good idea?!

Now, if I put...

http://www.website.com/TrakRecordPublicAccess*

...in the rendering engine list, Avant decides I really just wanted...

www.website.com

So, if my default engine is Chrome and I have to go to...

http://www.website.com/ThisPartOfTheSiteOnlyWorksInIE, I can set it, but when I try to go to...

http://www.website.com/ThisPartOfTheSit ... sInFirefox, I'm manually setting the engine every time. It's like you're going out of your way to make Avant's functionality worthless.

And to be clear... many government sites, especially local government, aren't coded by the greatest programmers, so I go to quite a few that actually work better in Firefox or Chrome than they do in IE. And unlike businesses, the subdirectories on these sites aren't maintained by the same departments. www.state.com/Governor probably isn't going to be created or maintained by the same people who do www.state.com/StateParks ...not that either of those examples would work anyway because they have capitalization.

I might add, too, that since this is, once again, another list of items put in Avant's settings that you can't sort, finding the strings I need to delete now on my multiple office computers has been a blast. The logic behind this decision just blows my mind. (And I never thought I would use an angry emoticon to actually express anger.)

edit: And off the top of my head, it doesn't seem like cutting the http:// or https:// from the string is a good idea, either? It's not like all engines all equally secure at all times. I can't think of a case, but just seeing Avant do that doesn't seem like a good idea.

Well, I don't know when this issue started because I dropped back to 11 and it's happening there, too. I know this wasn't always the behavior because I have strings in the list that obviously haven't been reformatted.

I just noticed while setting up a new computer in my office. Awesome. Maybe I'll take some time this weekend to drop back build by build to see when this started.

...A suggestion? Start some sort of list that tracks and records the changes made to the browser from build to build. A changelog of some sort, maybe? Much like this functionality, over time its purpose could be ignored and items could be left off of it rendering it pretty much useless, but at the beginning, I'm sure it would be wonderful.

At least the settings file is still in plain text so that I can add a simple string to a .ini file... oh wait.

Is there any possibility this will ever be resolved? I'm a bit surprised that capitalizing text is kicking a programmer's *** in this way. Re-reading the thread, there are members of my family younger than this bug.

Am I the only one experiencing this?

I'm still having the original capitalization issue, but I forgot all about this issue because there's no reason to rely on Avant's "feature" in the work that I do.

If anyone puts in "http://www.test.com/ABCDEF*" in the Rendering Engine list, does the list automatically convert it to "http://www.test.com" or am I the only one?
