Can someone from Avant team clarify will Firefox in Avant will continue supporting add-ons (CTR, XUL/XPCOM) with future releases?
Didn’t see any post or announcement with regards to this….

Legacy add-ons like CTR will stop working when Mozillas XUL/XPCOM support ends with Firefox 57 release: https://github.com/Aris-t2/ClassicTheme ... issues/299

As per the waterfox browser announcement they will continue support for add-ons: https://www.waterfoxproject.org/blog/wa ... e-download

What’s new in Waterfox 55.0.1?
Waterfox will CARRY ON SUPPORT for add-ons

As much as I hate to say it, you're probably not going to get a response from anyone in the know. I have a feeling that Avant is pretty much on cruise control at this point.

I don't keep up much with this stuff anymore, but Mozilla already dropped extensions based on other code or bases or whatever-it-is, right? I know it was coming and then in Avant's Build 6, Silverlight and my PDF integration quit working. So, I've been saving my Gecko folder with each install and am still using the one installed with whatever build came before 6. Not the most secure, but I think it's the best we're going to get.

Thanks for your response hornakapopolis, looking at the dead silence I pretty much assumed so….

Lately other than FF & chrome engine updates nothing much is happening here….had requested for few features…..it’s been years no news/no update!

If any other browser had/has same bells & whistles what Avant offers then I wouldn’t have worried….or have moved on….

With firefox some of the features what Avant offers can be added with the help of various add-ons but now unfortunately not all the add-ons are going to be redeveloped as per the new rules set by firefox….this is a major setback!
Moreover too many addons may hit the performance……
Some addons work with only certain version of FF….another problem! Or developer may abandon the development……

BTW here is an interesting read FF v/s Avant: http://forums.mozillazine.org/viewtopic.php?t=70565
