I had four or five tabs open in AB. I closed all but one and went to task manager to find that I had 4 Ybrowsers running in the background. They never went away the whole time I was surfing with just one tab. Is this normal?

XP SP3, AB 2012 b7

It's abnormal. How often does this problem happen to you?

This happens from time to time. I'm thinking it happens when a page doesn't appear to be loading up and I hit stop and then refresh. I just checked and I had this tab open, I used Bookmarks and opened PCWorld.com. In Process Explorer I saw 9 tabs open for a few seconds and then all went away except for three. Then I closed out PCWorld and it went down to two.

As a note, I also see that there's many times when I click a url in an email and the page don't load up until I hit refresh. Sometimes I have to shut down AB and start it up again to get a page to load up. Most of the time this happens the first time AB is initially run.

Also, about 99% of the time on every site, when I hit Submit on a forum or to leave a comment, it goes to "Page Not Found" and I have to back up and reload the page to see if the comment got posted. Most of the time the comment is posted, so I don't know why I keep getting a Page Not Found...

I've swithced across to the Avant Ultimate 2012 stream now, which doesn't have the issue of multiple ybrowser.exe tasks and (under the latest Firefox engine) seems to multi-task very well indeed.

Although I've given up the IE version of Avant, for now at least, I do recall occasions when Avant crashed or didn't cancel all instances of ybrowser.exe and so you can finish up in the situation where Task Manager shows more ybrowser.exe instances than the current Avant session is actually using.

Don't the Ultimate version require Firefox be installed?

I'm pretty sure that you can install the Avant 2010 Ultimate version (with the Firefox rendering engine built in, hence the considerably bigger download size than Avant 2011) without having to install Firefox itself.

As fas as I'm concerned, the framework of avant browser 11.7.46 combining with firefox core is preferable.

I agree, empirically I've noticed that the Avant 2012 wuth tthe Firefox rendering engine is very stable (rarely crashes), except for my problem described at http://forum.avantbrowser.com/viewtopic.php?f=6&t=30703&p=179855#p179855
