I am getting seriously cheesed off with Avant

I am getting very frustrated with Avant.
I've just installed Build 109 and all my personal settings have disappeared and it's gone back to defaults. Ah, I thought, I'll use the Backup/Restore and restore the backed up Configuration.
I did the Restore Configuration and it hasn't made a blind bit of difference.
Unfortunately I get the feeling I am flogging a dead horse with Avant. No sooner do I think it's back to the good old days and I'm happy with it, and then this happens. But it happens too often.
Life's too short to have to keep fiddling about reinstating all my preferences. I am getting very close to completely abandoning Avant, sad to say.
I MIGHT give it one more chance!!

Unfortunately I'm having the same feelings about the current 2010 version.
I've been using AB for quite some time now and recommended
it to a lot of people. Also I never had serious issues with previous versions.
But with the latest 2010 builds, I've experienced more problems than
with any other program sofar.
Just had a complete AB crash (while viewing youtube, only 3 tabs open, no other programs
running except the usual background ones)which only could be resolved by using a hard reset. Couldn't even access task manager or use Ctrl-Alt-Delete anymore and had
to use the on/off switch for the first time in many years to end the program.
I think that the devolper just went a bridge to far with the fancy seperate
processing of tabs.
Like ABman, there's an end to my patience and it's almost reached

I`ve said it elsewhere previously and l`ll say it again now:
If we had some word from Mr Anderson Che then we would understand.
Like others, l do wonder if he is indeed still the Captain of the Ship?

Even if you had contact with anderson i doubt it would help he already knows all the problems but he can't seem to fix it. Also there is a list of browsers out i was told that avant will be removed and especialy for windows 7 remember some guy said this i can't remember who it was. But i can believe it . It is not even half the browser it used to be.PS don't jump on me for this post just saying what i was told but i did say But i can believe it . It is not even half the browser it used to be.

You mean that ballot screen thing in the UK? I hadn't heard anything about that. That would be terrible. I really wish Anderson would reclassify the 2010's as a beta and get it off the homepage...

Agree with you there C.........I'm just waiting......I tried the first couple of 2010 releases, but almost immediately went back to my old faithful 11.7 v43......

I have no opinion on that i said i was told this by some guy i think it has to do with windows 7.But you can't possabley believe this is right nothing works except the old versions. I am not bashing or anything . Just saying what i was told i don't even remember the guy. I as it says it will don't worrie about these things i am waiting for a new version that will operate

I too am getting rather **** about the direction of what was once the best browser is going.
Maybe Anderson has given up control or just doesn't give a Shiite anymore. If that is the case just delete 2010 & let the thing live or die as is.
If he does care write a locked Thread telling us so & fore-go 2010 and just work on 12 while issuing statements on how it's going.

and decided to give build 122 a try.
It seems to run stable on XP+SP3, so there is reason for optimisme.
I'll stress AB to the limit to see if it remains stable, which I hope it does.
When it does, I'll also give it a try on my Vista laptop and hopefully I can leave
the nasty experience with the earlier builds behind me.

I bought a new PC and installed Windows XP Pro with SP 3 and installed Avant Browser as usual. I thought to give the new version, Version 2010 build 122 at try out. New PC, new browser sort of thing.

That has proved to be a very big mistake, now I appear to have 2 AB's, one with a blue desktop icon and one green (for private browsing, it says), but whichever icon I click, the green one opens.

I am having a lot of difficulty connecting to my home page and when I do, half of the page is missing, so much is blocked. although the settings are the same as on the 11.7 build 46.

I am now going to try to replace the 2010 build 122 with the 11.7, build 46.

Any tips on how to do this are welcome.

And back again.
It's been a little over a week since I've installed build 122 and
as it turns out, it's nearly impossible to crash AB
A few of the things I threw at AB:
- opening 100+ websites at the same time, including a number of flash sites
- visited some dodgy warez/cracks sites
- openened embedded wav, mp3, qt, mov and wmv at the same time
- opening multiple AB's at the same time

The limitation proved to be my PC's memory (2.5 GB) and not AB.
So, after a (very) bad start with version 2010, I'm happy again
using build 122.

Next project will be the same but on my Vista laptop

What if you re-start an Avant Browser via File->New Avant Browser? Will the blue Avant Browser open?

Do you have problems in connecting to other pages?

I still seem to have some difficulty with Build 122. For some reason some of my tab buttons disappear sometimes and sometimes when i lock the toolbars, they are shown as unlocked until i pass my mouse over those lines or minimise the browser and then they disappear. Another issue i noticed is that sometimes in some pages when i use the mouse wheel to scroll down the movement of the page is different than with my previous version, 11.7 B46. When i search something into google for example, some strange things appear in the search window although that happens with both build 122 and 11.7 B46 which i can't explain. I am sticking to 11.7 B46 for now it seems.

This is fixed in build 123([Fix]Toolbars still showed unlocked though Lock the Toolbars options was already checked).
