Re: Unofficial Orca Browser Portable Version
Thanks for the USB version of Orca. I have a suggestion - I don't like self extracting zip files, what about a standard zip file? I could easily enter it and unpack directly to the other pane in my file manager and automatically replace all files.

Re: Unofficial Orca Browser Portable Version
I have packaged the file in the same way as Avant Browser Portable for consistency. Most file managers will let you explore/navigate/unpack it as if it were a standard archive - that's what I do.

Yes, I can unpack it, but I want to enter it and just copy to few different folders in the other pane.

Once unpacked, you can do whatever you want to it. Do you want me to email you the file in .zip format?

Re: Unofficial Orca Browser Portable Version
No no, thanks, I know I can unpack it and then copy, but then a standard Windows dialog is used in my file manager and I have to click several times to overwrite the files, with a zip file integrated dialog is used and I have to press Enter just once. It's a file manager issue and it's a bit annoying because I'm using several folders of Avant (Orca).

Re: Unofficial Orca Browser Portable Version
Excuse my ignorance, but what is the purpose of a USB version of any browser? I understand portability but are there any other advantages or disadvantages?

Re: Unofficial Orca Browser Portable Version
Easier backup, multiple instances (I mean in several folders), no (re)installation is needed (just unpack in file manager)...
All these advantages are also workarounds to these feature requests:
Easier backup > custom settings location
Multiple instances > easier saving the bookmarks *
Re-installation > auto-update, I mean automatically download update, close Avant, reinstall, start Avant.
* I didn't find the feature request to this. I want to be able to quickly save all opened tabs to bookmarks and replace the old tabs, for example, just click the "Save & Replace Bookmark" button, select (or just double-click) "Bookmark1", then automatically remove all tabs in "Bookmark1" and save all opened tabs to "Bookmark1". It's a bit complicated, perhaps the workaround (USB version) is even better.

Can you try launching it by right clicking orca.exe and selecting "Run As Admin"

Re: Unofficial Orca Browser Portable Version
Thanks for the information. I hope it will be added soon, it's the last 'big' feature I need in Orca.

Re: Unofficial Orca Browser Portable Version
I may add a "quick-and-dirty hack" to the portable launcher to enable multiple instances in the next week or so - I just don't have time at the moment. No guarantees that it will work correctly - there's obviously something wrong with running multiple instances which is why Anderson has disabled it. Watch this thread...

Re: Unofficial Orca Browser Portable Version
OK, thanks!
Just to make sure, what I need is to start multiple instances of Orca from different folders. For Example, I have the folder Orca1, I want to start it and then start another instance from folder Orca2 - each folder has its own settings, favorites, tabs...
