I love avant I feel I can't go online without avant. I lost track of how long I've used avant. I've donated many times so that you can keep your work going, but the hang-ups has me cursing at avant. Specific sites like Chase, buy.com, even paypal, and ebay at times. I refuse to stop using it, but if 12 just fixes the hang-ups I be in Avant Heaven.

What i did to solve this is close avant(kill process) in laptop, restart avant.
This only happends to my laptop.

So far, my desktop is working perfectly (Core 2 E6600 with 2G RAM).

You've had problems on Buy.com? Hmm well I have noticed in the past that Avant might seem locked up or hung up but alot of times if you wait alittle while it will come back to you. Alot of times you've just given the computer alot of things to do all at once and it needs to catch up. I have yet to see Avant crash for me after it has hung up because if it seems to become unresponsive I just let it sit for a few minutes and it usually comes back to me. I'm trying to make an excuse for Avant crashing Im just telling you my experiences..

Tony,12.0 build is right to fix the issue of one freezing tab causing the whole browser to freeze all together. I'll remind Anderson of the other requests.

Please provide the following information before reporting problems:
Avant Version; System(also point out it is a 32 or 64-bit OS);IE; Memory Size; CPU Speed;
Optional: Firewall; Graphics Card

For the problems hard to replay, could you add me into your MSN or Skype list if you use either of them? The advantage is that you can let us know the situation in the first place by making some screenshots, sharing your screen or explaining the specific problems more clearly when they happen.

Excellent news, Jasmine! Xie xie.

Meanwhile, I have grudgingly upgraded from IE6 to the gold release of IE8 and somewhat to my surprise it seems to be going well. No performance problems with IE8, and it also doesn't seem to gobble up memory when you have lots of tabs opened.

I hate the IE8 user interface, and use Avant (or Orca, or Firefox) all the time. The only thing that I regret about installing IE8 -- and am badly missing -- is that (like IE7) it no longer supports the ability for "Ctrl + Mouse Wheel" to adjust text sizes in a flowing fashion. Hence like many others I'm hoping that Avant 12.0 brings back the text size toolbar buttons. ... As well as several other requests (like "Open Tab in New Avant Browser") that I really do hope Anderson can work on, busy man!

Well Tony just keep in mind that the benefits that IE8 brings Avant outweigh any disadvantages IE8 itself brings you over IE6. There is a growing trend among more and more websites to no longer stay compatible with IE6. Alot of work is done with modern websites to make them look, work, and feel in IE6, the same way it does in newer browsers. Eventually more and more main stream websites will starting joining that list. Since I started using Avant several years back, I stopped using IE and never looked back. You don't need to when you have Avant installed.

Very true! ... Except of course when a function like the one I highlighted (hold the Ctrl key down and scroll with the Mouse Wheel to alter text size) gets removed from the IE rendering engine [introduced in IE5, dropped in IE7 and thereafter].

This means that Avant and any other front-ends that depend on this (other browsers like Maxthon, plus Windows help files and the Microsoft Management Console, and the like) can no longer use this handy way to alter text size, so we've all been royally "stuffed" by Microsoft.

Well actually while it doesnt work in Avant. But ctrl + or - does. If you press ctrl and use the scroll wheel it does zoom in and out which can be used the same way as having the text itself resize. Ctrl + or - is the equivalent in Avant.

Is it just the zooming functionality that you want, or the actualy font changing that you want?

Tony, since there exists Text size under View menu why do you want the text size button back so much. Isn't it redundant and repeated?

Please folks look at my other extensive arguments about text resizing in other threads (do a search to find the several posts), and I;m not the only one who wants it.

But to repeat some of it in summary form:
1. Much of my time (and many others' too, I would say) is spent reading text on the Web.

2. There's a big need for "liquid flow text resizing" so that you can increase (or very occasionally decrease) the text size and ONLY the text size, not the images and other page elements. This is mainly for those pages that have very tiny text that;s illegible for anyone, plus the needs for people with very poor eyesight. Note that I said "liquid flow" so that text doesn't disappear off the side of the window when it gets bigger.

3. Because I'm doing it hour after hour, day after day, I and others don't want to have to hunt and peck through the View menu (3 steps) but want a SINGLE CLICK button giving a time saving amounting to hours and hours per week/month. Internet Explorer 7 introduced a sing;e-click button )at the bottom right) which cycles through 100% - 125% 150% and back again, and this is a great idea. The equivalent Avant feature requires two clicks to select 125% or 150% or 200& or whatever, and I find the slider control rather awkward to use.

4. Page zooming has its place, but is not as good for text reading in many cases as text resizing.

In short, it's all about efficiency and significant time savings for those of us who read lots and lots of web pages every day and find that frequently we need to improve the text size (usually by increasing the size, occasionally by reducing the size). I and other Avant users can't wait for it to be brought back (we all wonder why it was removed without asking us first). Enough said!

Originally, I wanted to make the liquid font resize that you wanted, but that's gonna take a bit more time. When I update this add-on, it's going to have the liquid font resize that you want. The hard part is to resize all the text, while mantaining proportions to larger text against smaller text. Otherwise all the text ends up being the same size.
In the mean time, is there something I should add to improve this script?

Well done addonsfan! How about an option to include image resizing or not.

Sorry for not notifying you ahead of time.Original thought to remove it is to keep Avant and Orca the same interface as no text resize feature available in Orca and accordingly it would be more easier for maintaining both browsers. 12.0 is on half way. All requests are not done yet. Keep requesting.

And, to follow on from kudos' question just above. is there a staged list of what might be in the version 12 sub-releases?
