[Article] Browser Alternatives: Beyond Internet Explorer

Post by crom » Fri Feb 04, 2005 5:20 pm

IE..or what? an interesting article on extremetech.com examines the alternatives to MS browser.
The outline focuses on the following:

* Firefox 1.0
* Maxthon version 1.1.120
* Netscape 7.2
* Opera 7.54u1
* Avant Browser 10.0 Build 035

If I die I have to go before Crom and he will ask me:
"What is the rule of Steel?"
And if I don't know it, he will cast me out of Valhalla and laugh at me!
That's Crom, strong on his mountain..

Hmm... a relatively unbiased synopsis of what's out there. Interesting. Thanks, Crom!

An excellent read. The article gives a very good, unbiased (IMHO) review. I was particularly pleased to read the bit about security.

As far as I can tell, the only reason to use Firefox over AB is the mythical security thing. Since I have virus protection, ad ware protection, soft and hardware firewalls etc up the wazoo and keep them current and run them daily, I don't consider security to be a problem anyway - at least no more in the IE engine than Gecko/Firefox.

I'm with chef_Garry on this one,

But that said............security wise.. you only relay need to be concerned about that, if you like to vistit the more unsavory sites on the net.

Ie...Porn sits (Not meaning all porn sites are bad. The USER run porn sites are on average are 99.9% safe. for exp [Removed by moderator] ). And warez sites.

Theese are the one's who use underhand tactics. So for the average user I think AB Browser is spot on. Let the pervs and thief's (warez sites down loaders), bother with the security problem of web browsers.

Just my penith Worth guys.

HD (",)

Pls note, that the link is for a example use for good porn sites and Adult content is def there LoL
