What is your favourite browser apart from Avant

Post by Chandu9013 » Mon Jun 07, 2004 1:53 pm

There are many browsers. What is ur favourite apart from Avant? This is just for fun and to know which other browsers are innovative to use and can compete with avant atleast in the future. :) Have a look at the poll above.Post a message if there is a specefic reason for liking a browser listed above. It would be helpful for others. :) I haven't listed IE as i don't think any body here are using IE.

Thankq

Hey! Where's Spider-man browser?! (Just kidding)

Personally, I have a java site that I go to everyday that I've never been able to load using Firebird or Netscape, even though every other java item opens fine, so I end up using Sleipnir when I'm not using Avant. But 99.999999% of the time, I'm using Avant.

Also, I'd never heard of FastBrowser, does anyone have a screenshot... out of curiousity? I can't see the one on download.com

I'm with Pip. I only use Avant (and IE when I'm forced to). I've looked at the others but they seemed either too bloated or too buggy or weren't multi-tabbed.

By the way, thought I'd post since I mentioned it in here and just ran into it myself. The Spider-man browser has a ton of spyware/adware/whatever you want to call it ware. I just got done getting rid of coolwebsearch (Thanks for whoever posted the link a few days ago). It also screwed up my file associations and IE still won't check to see if it's the default browser.

I really don't think anyone was planning on using it, but the first one was just so bad (and problem free) that I had to see how bad this one was and I don't want anyone else falling into the same trap... or sticky web.

...okay, I know that's not funny

That's Otavius' doing ...
Yea, it's cool looking (the Spiderman picture is the opening page while it contacts your homepage) & has some neat skins but sure could do without the shopping, news & financial folders.
I have an Avant age so will stay with it as long as Anderson keeps the good stuff rolling & not make it Bloatware

Sometimes I've got to switch to FireFox since AB (as well as IE) does not handle ActiveX as it should..

What I like in FireFox are Extensions...I wish AB would allow something like that, to modify hidden settings or add some new feature.
That's not possible, I believe, because AB's source code's not public

Anyway, I use AB 95% of my 'webtime'!

see ya!

Same here. I use Avant 95% of the time the other time with Firefox. (100% Firefox use on Linux since there is no Avant in Linux.) The extensions are nice. My favorite extensions are Single Window Mode, Download Sort and Nuke Anything.

Freeware Finder
http://www.it-mate.co.uk/support/freewarefinder.asp

I should mention however, it's not a tabbed browser, or anything like Avant/IE etc, just a simple little thing.

Well, now that sounds funny.. considering the display in IE and AB are the exact same \:D/

Because I am a web developer.. I have IE/AB and Firefox on my computers. If I can make a site look great at the same time in those two.. I have 98% of my users covered.
