Alternate Browsers Review

Post by Tinman57 » Thu Sep 26, 2013 11:21 pm

Avant is the first one on the list....

Five free alternative web browsers for Windows

There are other alternative web browsers that deserve a fair look. Here are five solid alternative browser choices.

Its more like list of 5 browsers to avoid:

1. Avant - no need to write about it...
2. Maxthon - same story as avant or other browsers these days, was better/more advanced in previous versions. Even though it uses webkit, it doesnt support extensions from google store. It is fast and responsive though.
3. SRWare Iron - In my experience comodo dragon was a faster & safer alternative.
4. Midori - still early in development.
5. Tor Browser - not a browser for everyday use cause its proxy browser (very very slow but best anonymity).

By the way what happened to mbrazil? Did he left Avant? :(

It's been a while since I've been on the forums here. If Mbrazil is missing in action, it's probably for the same reason as I, got tired of waiting for Avant to get it's "stuff" together. In the mean time, I'm using LunaScape browser that is a front end for the 3 big browsers just like Avant, with the exception of it using an older version of Firefox which is no big deal for me since I don't use it that often, and when I need it I have the original installed on my puter.

In his latest PM to me (a few weeks ago, I think), mbrazil told me he'd finally gotten a message back from Anderson--just as mbrazil was giving up on AB for good--in which Anderson seemed to be rather in the dark about the users' displeasure/anger about bad changes to Avant Browser. Anderson claimed, between all of his ventures, he hadn't the time to weed through the thousands of messages, emails & forum posts. He seemed eager, mbrazil said, to receive from mbrazil a list of the important negative changes made since the rollout of AB 2013. Knowing that anything mbrazil came up with would already include my own personal "hates," I didn't give him any additional input. I haven't heard anything more, which suggests (1) mbrazil never provided Anderson with a list [which is highly unlikely in light of his displayed diligence], or (2) mbrazil provided Anderson with a list--perhaps weeks ago--but, thus far, nothing has changed [my bet].

Yeah, I went over all that stuff with Mbrazil a while ago. I told him that in my opinion, he was getting smoke blown up his rear side. I would find it hard to believe that anyone that had a popular software package out wouldn't read his own forums and his email. Apparently I was correct in this line of thought. Oh well, LunaScape is working out quite well.....
