Upgrade to Windows 7???

Post by Pip » Thu Sep 23, 2010 9:03 pm

Looking for input here.......I am currently using Windows Vista Home Premium 64bit SP2 wondering what advantage and benefits it would be to upgrade to Windows 7. I'm not truly unhappy with Vista although it's a bit intrusive........I really liked XP.

Anyway, I'd appreciate any input--- pro or con -- on upgrading from Vista to 7.

Thanks.

Pete

I too liked Vista but got W7 HP from PC mfg for $40.
It is simple & you can lay it over Vista & not loose any of your vista proggies or personal files.

I will send you a PM about where it might be possible to get it cheaper

Thanks Philip....I had heard that "7" basically had to be a clean install or all programs would be lost...........How are you doing?

I guess moving to Windows 7 shouldn't be that tough decision...Win 7 is better than vista and is next generation OS...MS is going to be put all of most of its energy into Seven as opposed to Vista later.

I highly recommend moving to Windows 7 over Vista or XP. 7 is just more polished and alot of things have just been worked out since Vista.

For instance, my HDD would thrash all the time when I was on Vista, really decreasing the life span of the drive. That has been taken care of in Win7. It no longer thrashes for long periods of time. It also has the new "Superbar"(new name for the taskbar) that changes the look and feel for the better. There are just alot of little things that make upgrading to 7 worth the price and effort.

(Also, I have to throw this in here for "Axeman".. Please get off XP.. :) I am sure you didn't stay on Win ME, or 98 or even 95 for 10 years did you? So why do it with XP. Move on. You'll be better off, especially security wise.)

Sorry for being so late to give my opinion....

I never actually minded Win ME.. It had the tendency to completely freeze if you hit the desk consistently. But other than that...
