Alarmed

Post by darth » Mon Aug 16, 2010 2:57 pm

As a user of Avant for three years, I am getting alarmed by long time users of Avant talking about leaving Avant due to apparent bugs in the latest Version.

Is Avant going down the tubes? I hate to see this.

There is speclation among forum menbers about who in this point in time is the developer of Avant. Could a Moderator/Support Staff in some way find the answer to this maybe?

My Avant needs are simple. Just simple browsing. No 50 tabs open or anything like that. Avant 11_0 Build 46 which I use, rarely if ever gives me any trouble.

I too have made comment elsewhere in the Forum.I too would appreciate clarity.
I've thought of a PM to Jasmine or Xiobing.
Much as l find Avant Browser and Forum going through strange times l still retain the image of Anderson at his bench, labouring far into the night, sustained by coffee served by an ever-faithfull Jasmine, developing, innovating, refining.

There's no 50 tabs open for me either, darth. And its 11.7 b46SR here and as yet l have not looked elsewhere. Two John Lennon lyrics come to mind...'Nobody told me there'd be days like these' and 'I'm just sitting here watching the wheels go round and round'
Respectfully....

I'd love to say that we could darth but we get as much feedback as you do, sometimes even less.
I'd say send an email but it probably get lost in the influx. :sigh:

I feel `Alarmed` for the new users coming in. They are not going to know and love the Avant that l`ve known for 5yrs because they would not download the 11.7 series instead of the troublesome 2010 builds. Moderator bigC has mentioned that 2010 should still be a Beta build and l agree.

Strange days indeed.

Recently read in the forums here one of the later Avant versions was defaulted to Bing search engine.

Also, you can no longer reach the forum(at least not here)thru Avant help(.cn)

We know Avant is/was coded in Delphi. When I was studying Ruby Scripting language, remenber seeing an article you could whip up a browser in 10 minutes in Delphi, hmm..hmm.

Question to chinese support staff? Who is the current developer of Avant?

You would probably be better off sending an email & PM to them, as on the whole they do not look into GD part of the forum.
Also maybe there is a new owner, so you should be specific in your question.

I can confirm that Anderson is still the developer of Avant - it's not in the hands of anyone else.
