Market Share Operating Systems

Post by darth » Thu Oct 22, 2009 2:42 am

According to http://www.netmarketshare.com/operating ... x?qprid=10 current market share for XP is 71.5% and market share for Vista is 18.62%.

Look out here comes Windows 7. Will it over take Vista anytime soon and/or XP.

Well, I'm not sure. Right now I have 3 PCs and 1 laptop.
On one PC I have XP installed
On another PC and on a laptop Vista
On third PC Windows 7. So I'm not completely sure how they're calculating the market share.

Secondary PC same as primary but with Windows 7 x64 Ultimate as the OS.

Yes, thier methology in obtaining these results should have been listed. for example, world wide, usa only/a blend of well to do cities/poorer cites etc.

The link I posted yesterday, today apparently removed XP stats.

Might have something to do with Windows 7 coming on forsale today?

Axeman, is that $114 in Canada? I believe I saw a quoted price here for Best Buy at $119.99 I think, here in the states.

Well I'm not surprised Canada is cheaper. I understand Medicine is cheaper there. But that subject is for another thread maybe.

Imo, Vista is a really good OS... But Windows 7 really is a great improvement. I think a lot of people stick with XP because of the well know "flaws", but Win7 should make those people happy who saw them as flaws and also satisfy the people who liked these "flaws". Just a wild guess from a nonexpert; I think Win7 will acquire the majority of the marketshare in the same amount of time that Vista has been out.
