Since this is not Avant Browser related I moved it to General Discussion..

Yep the news is all over the internet as it is supposed to be released any hour now.. Uses the Webkit engine and alittle bit of FF code.. The UI isnt really anything to jump up and down about though.. From the few screenshots I've seen..

Agreed.

Also, when have we ever seen an essentially 1.0 version of anything really look good, usable, up-to-date, etc? Not even AB or Firefox REALLY had as much as was obviously needed in their initial releases.

Especially because they are last horse out of the gate, they have the advantage of seeing the other horses hiney's....and, likely, Google will wind up with a LOT of bells, whistles and features when it's "soup".

Yet, it still seems that they all look like 1.0 -- and most work like 1.0 -- when they finally send out the first versions.

Well supposedly they are tagging it as being as simple as the Google homepage. I just dont think that it being that simple will let it begin to compete in the browser wars.. Even if the backend is pretty well thought out and competitive.. In my opinion what the browser looks like and what it does, matters...

I'm not going to download it...
I have more than enough browsers already installed...
If it's based on Webkit then everything that work in Safari should work fine in it as well...

Hmm Safari isn't very slow here (Though I'm not using it regularly to surf the web, So maybe I just don't know...)

Nice browser. But lacks many features.

I will certainly stick with Avant.

I installed it out of curiosity. You can import IE favourites but from then on I think it uses its own system, so for that reason alone I wouldn't use it. Also I don't like the way it installs; I thought it was only MS that did things differently to others.
Anyway, it's uninstalled, which left things in C:\Documents and Settings\'user'\Local Settings\Application Data that needed cleaning up.

Well, thats where it installs is the Application Data folder.. But that should mean it got rid of everything there.. So hopefully they fix that..

Man you sure are picky.

I'm loving this browser right now. Mainly due to how fast it is and the amount of screen space the layout provides.

Couldn't get it to install all my IE Favorites, only the last 4 folders. Also can't add RoboForm - or can you?

I like it, a lot. So simple, and clean. I hope the ONLY thing they add from here, are addon capabilities. I think with a well developed plugin/addon system, all the features it lacks can be made up for.

Just installed it on my PC and it imported ALL my Bookmarks. So it did fine with Vista on my PC but not with XP on my laptop. Something weorks better for me in Vista than XP. There's a first!!! :D
