A heart warming story out of New York City of a teacher who dumpster dives for computers, printers to fix up and send back to grateful students in Kenya.

I suspect there are a lot of folks who dumpster dives, but will not own up to it.

Warning, dumpster diving is not for the faint of heart.

Take it from a Pro. view article http://www.cnn.com/2009/LIVING/wayoflif ... index.html

Well AXEMAN, that could happen,if the hard drives are not written over, wiped clean, I guess.

Picked up a Windows 95 one time at a thrift store, HD had scores of a doctor's patent's records on it.

I have 4 old CRT monitors if he wants them. :D

Edit: It's a shame no one (in developed countries) want them anymore.

CRT monitors are going for 10 bucks in thrift stores.
When I first started using computers, I picked up one on the side of street, used it for 8 months before it give up the ghost, that is one of the guns in the CRT started failing.

I only have 3 computers now, two of the monitors I paid 10 bucks a piece.

Cheep skate..I guess so.

Thank you AXEMAN, thoses monitors are the on only thing I know of, which is second handed here.

No stacks of 30-40 year newspapers, nor no 25-30 cats to feed.

I run a tight ship.

Has anyone made a good fine doing dumpster diving lately?

No good finds here in a long time. With the economy apparently in free fall(world wide too) People are apparently holding on to things longer.
