hmmm...

Post by addonsfan » Tue Feb 19, 2008 5:21 am

well, I'll probably be on a lot less, not that anyone cares. my computer totally just died on me last night, while I was in the middle of something. when I start it, there's nothing. only the fans turn on. so I'll be needing a new motherboard. fortunately, the HDD is still good, so I didn't lose my tons of important files.

Weird...that's almost how my other computer died; it was a motherboard failure. When I'd start mine up, the fans, the HDDs, the CD-ROM drives, and everything else would come on, but it would instantly freeze. I think I'm just going to get a new computer...that other one needed some fixing up, anyway.

My brother and I take care of our friends' house (their main home is in Maine). That includes maintaining the lawns, watering plants, and pretty much anything else necessary to keep the yard looking nice. I also take care of some other people's houses, when they go out of town. That's how I'm able to buy these computers. :)

maybe someone can assist me in buying an affordable processor/motherboard combo? I'm hoping for atleast a dual core.

Naw Addonsfan, "buy processor/motherboard". You don 't have to do that. Check curbsides for discards. I picked up old Dell Monitor from curbside, and used it with my first computer for a year.

Wow, for me, that would be like going from my 1986 Isuzu Impusle to a Porche.

well, I need to atleast be able to have WMP/Winamp, Dreamweaver, Avant, Apache + MySQL + PHP, and Photoshop running all at the same time with noticing any slow downs or I'll go crazy. Avant was being a real pain in the butt right before my computer died, and it was really **** me off. I have this theory that my computer commited suicide because it sensed I was about to kill it myself.
no, but really, I think Avant was just going slow because the processor was going bad.

I'm trying to save up for a car right now, but I could probably spare a few bucks to buy a new motherboard...either that, or I'll just get a new computer.

Yeah, I had the same problem with an old girlfriend. It was hard to do, but we broke up. So I guess you can guess my choice.

Well, I dont mean to be harsh to anyone that actually does it. I just dont understand the reasoning behind doing something that you know could kill you in the future. And Im not talking about now, Im talking about when you started before any addiction that might started that alot of people in my opinion use as an excuse.. The thrill? The risk?

Strange that drink is worse for you and kills you quicker than smoking does ..... yet no-one seems as against drinkers as they are against smokers ..... ;)
