Avant - About those Toolbars & other Entities

Post by josephrot » Thu Jun 14, 2007 11:38 am

Toolbars and other Entities...

Especially as it relates to Avant Browser...

Very verifiable information from inside this industry:

"One word to the wise, regarding both Yahoo and Google, and likely other toolbars based on similar codes and plans...

These toolbars are NOT "best friends" as many advertise to be...they are there to track people, plans, habits, and they form a badly needed income and profit stream for those that supply them.

In addition, many of these toolbars are increasingly messing with systems innards, sometimes making the applications they work with, work differently. Some are seeing stability and other operational issues.

If it sounds like most users would be ultimately better off NOT using them at all, then from time to time, that may be one avenue to pursue."

UPDATE: Sorry.... The major point to make is that when Avant, or any other browser, starts acting up...pay a bit of attention to the Yahoo, Google, and a host of other possible browser toolbars that you may have installed or are using.

Many users might be better off removing them, period.
