I added it for you, I hope you don't mind. At least that way I get to vote! See, there are some perks to being a Mod!

much better than xp2 in terms of graphics, security, stability.

but if you have xp2 pro its very good and also very reliable at this point! vista needs 2-3 yrs for more.

no need to switch if it's not impt and significant. if you want the vista feel then just install stylexp of windowblinds!.

I heard that Microsoft is going to discontinue XP at the end of the year. :|

That's not going to happen. Businesses would complain too much and Microsoft may very well lose big contracts if they did that. Many, many companies are still using 2000 for most of their computers because it is tried, and true and all the programs they need run perfectly fine.

Dropping support for either 2000 or XP in the next year or two would not be a smart move for Microsoft because many people don't want to, don't need to, can't (system too slow), or don't even know about upgrading to Vista.

As a note, Noyb didn't mention support, just that it was going to be discontinued, as in you won't be able to buy it. That's correct isn't it? I had heard the same.

They won't be discontinuing XP any time soon. They still have to release sp3... I read on Neowin it will be later this year,

Edit: You posted while I was composing Horn, didn't see your post.

I believe they will stop selling licenses January 31, 2008 for Direct OEM and Retail licenses.

Yeah, that's what I meant. Sorry 'bout that. They'll probably support XP for a while after they stop selling licenses. I remember they supported XP SP1 for a while after they released SP2.
My uncle bought a Sony laptop a few months ago, and he was able to get XP with it. Then, a few months later, his friend bought the exact same computer, and he requested XP, but they told him XP was no longer available, so he had to get Vista.

My dad custom bought a computer back when ME came out. He told them he wanted 98, but that was a $50 "downgrade", so he didn't get it.

It makes me wonder that if he gave them an extra grand, could he have walked out of there with nothing? :?

For anyone interested, it was Gateway.

Heck, if he won the lottery, he could get Windows 98 BC! (if there was one)
