Memory leak
Just an FYI, the latest build of Avant has a memory leak that leads to Avant being required to be restarted after anything from an hour to several days, depending on how heavily it's used.
Issue has been confirmed on Vista Home Premium SP2, Vista Home Basic SP2 and XP Pro SP2 and 3.

Re: Memory leak
Can you clarify that it is just v11.7.39 and not the recent build 38 and previous?

Re: Memory leak
Only noticed the issue with .39 (confirmed on several different systems to ensure it wasn't an OS/hardware issue)

Re: Memory leak
..and also in build 43. Static pages opened and Avant just constantly keeps eating more and more memory. Checking with Process Explorer

Re: Memory leak
Sorry to reply to this old topic, but this memory leak is pretty much old news. Well, I'm not sure if it's THIS memory leak, or not. But there's been a leak since the beginning of version 11. The problem is that it's extremely hard to track what is causing it. It's seemingly randomly occuring on different PCs... (some people have it, some people don't) which leads me to believe it's not actually Avant's fault, but some conflicting software. Leaving Avant Browser open for a couple days has always resulted in high memory usage for me, but it's bearable.
But then again, this could be a new leak that will occur for everyone. I haven't noticed any new leaks more than usual.
I'm not willing to at this time, but if someone want's to test turing off online storage, that might be a possible cause.

Re: Memory leak
sorry to re activate this post, but looks like all version i used so far with my system has the memory leak issue.
can tell by keep opening many new pages, the close and left only one webpage
open the task bar, check on the avant browser memory utilization,
there you go, memory leak again.
i try will all version of Avant browser, from 11.7.44 and backward. so far all are having the same issue.
is that possible that for every pages we close, avant will release the memory utilize?
Thank you.

Re: Memory leak
This is a known issue with the 11 series I'm afraid, but is expected to be fixed with v12 (due to v12 being a complete re-write). No ETA on this at present sadly.

Re: Memory leak
A memory leak or leakage in computer science is a particular type of memory consumption by a computer program where the program is unable to release memory it has acquired. A memory leak has symptoms similar to a number of other problems (see below) and generally can only be diagnosed by a programmer with access to the program source code; however, many people refer to any unwanted increase in memory usage as a memory leak, though this is not strictly accurate.
