Microsoft Silverlight Video issue

Post by megatrends » Thu Oct 02, 2008 4:09 pm

I use Windows Vista Home Basic SP1 and the Silverlight videos at the MLB site (Major League baseball) do not work in Avant but they do in IE7. I am using the latest Avant version 11.7 Build 15

In IE7 everything works beautifully.

Now at the NESN website the video players won't load either in Avant but they do in IE7

http://www.nesn.com/content/videocenter ... avCatId=18

Just shooting it out there, I do not do anything special for video codecs and the like and like I said both work perfectly in IE7.

I should also add that the video worked very briefly but was glitchy and then stopped. Now nothing happens even after rebooting, dumping the temp files and what have you don't help either.

I just dunno folks lolz.

Now the MLB ones are working but the NESN ones still are not. It is like the codec glitches in Avant for some reason. Again ... everything works fine in IE7.

I've just tried both links and got just Flash videos. Can't seem to find SilverLight.
IE8(Pro), Microsoft Security Essentials
Main PC:

Secondary PC same as primary but with Windows 7 x64 Ultimate as the OS.

Silverlight is a microsoft media player that MLB uses on their website.

In any case sometimes these other videos work on NESN as well as the MLB site and sometimes they don't. They glitch and misfire it seems.

I know what SilverLight is, But I can't seem to find any SilverLight content on this website. All the videos there are Flash.

Okay after further use the videos work for the most part on the first page view. ASfter watching if I go back they don't show up almopst like an ad blocker is blocking the content .... which they are not since I do not use an ad blocker.

Everything works fine in IE7 however. I do not have any other browsers installed to try those out but this is all I can come up with so far.

There is an apparent glitch going on with video.

I think one should discard the Silverlight comment I made and just go with ALL flash video players do this.

Also some websites with a lot of flash seems to cause a page load hanging for sometimes over a minute. I try the same webpages with IE7 and all is good.

One that does this (not every time) is http://www.nhl.com
