Avant Browser Locked up with Flash Site

Post by uncpotato » Wed Jun 20, 2007 6:01 pm

Accidentally visiting this site through yahoo japan.
The site just show one picture at a time, when clicked go to next picture.

FF2 acted very weired to draw my attention: the FF window shrink to a specific size and I am unable to control it, neither by resizing nor maximize it. Feeling frustrated, I start up IE6 for a test, and it acted the same way too. Seems like the flash object has a tremendous power to control the whole browser.
Opera 9.2 just show the page as a normal one, without being manipulate by the object.

Avant Browser 11.5 is the worst, it just flashes and got locked up.......

What is the meaning of 'fine' ??
Does the strange window size restriction applies??

Oh
So IE6 is probably the problem.
Psykocyber,Does it just "goes nuts",Or it freeze your avant as well?
Can you please check whether you have the same issue with IE?
(Just attempting to understand whether that's an Avant's or IE bug)

I don't think you can conclude like that.......
At least with my case, IE6 still shows the site content, (though the site takes over the window's size control) while AB just frozen with a flashing block.

RE: << http://www.form-m.jp/gallery/kaori/ >>

Screws up my Avant 11.5 B9 / IE6 combination, and only one of the two Avant 11.5 B9 / IE7 test units over here. Velly strange beast.

Update: One of the Flash programmers over at Macromedia was sent the URL....

One wishes they would elaborate, but a quick IM back, appears to them that http://www.form-m.jp/gallery/kaori/ is Flash coded wrong and it's using new Flash options to sense browser and apparently sensing user IP to ascertain location.

Would help if they might elaborate, but I get the feeling that the Flash site is testing the browsers and so forth, and trying to adjust what it presents -- and is not doing a good job about it.

Not an Avant-caused situation in their view nor IMHO mine either.

To Uncpotato: By `Fine` I mean it works ok here. Today, using the link posted by the OP i have the 1 picture which will not change by left clicking on the `Prev`word at the bottom of the page. Later i will try in Google/IE. Will Post if any change in result.
