Bing Takeover of Homepage Problem

The other day I discovered two things. First my homepage had been turned into something called
Bing, Second while I was at work a bunch of Porn URLs turned up in my History.

Bing took over the homepage in a few other browsers I use,

I was able to remove them, but not on Avant.

I have tried entering other homepages the URLS are in Internet Properties
but Bing is still there. default does not work, blank does not work
and "use current" seems to be disabled

I have set Bing.com to a Restricted website but I would like to eliminate it.

I use other browsers for specialized functions, but Avant is my favourite
general browser, I really do not want to Uninstall it.

HELP?!

Bing is Microsoft's search engine site - its equivalent of Google. If you have recently installed some Microsoft software then you probably didn't read the installation dialogs correctly and said OK to changing your default home page and search engines over to them.

You have probably gone to: Tools >> Internet Options - but that is settings for IE and not for Avant.

To change the homepage in Avant: Tools >> Avant Browser Options... >> Home Page
To change the search in Avant: Tools >> Avant Browser Options... >> Search Enhine >> Standard Search

As for that - check that your system is not infected with malware (there are many free products out there) and use a third-party cleaning software (such as CCleaner) to fully clean your browsing history.

I think Avant 46 changes the Search default to Bing.
Tried to change homepage too but Winpatrol stopped it

Avant has no vested interest in Bing, so it didn't install it--one of MSofts updates did. If WinPatrol is getting in the way, shut it down before restarting, make sure your settings are right and then restart it. You should be able to go into WinPatrol and disable Bing as well.

Thank you. Glad to hear it was not Avant. Forget which Homepage it was trying to go to.
WinPatrol is great - saved me from Home page and Host file changes. Never interferes except when it is supposed to.

JUst updated Avant on laptop and same thing happened. Was notified by WinPatrol that both homepage and search site were trying to be changed to Bing. It sure seems to me that the download site is ending something else along with the update. You might want to look into this.
I had different homepages set up for IE and Avant. The change did refer to the page for IE. I would think that if it was an MS update that the change would have been attempted after the install and restart.

Why is the install changing my search engine to Bing with no warning whatsoever?

SARA said Avant did not do it. I think she better check further.
I have upgraded several computers to build 46 and they ALL changed the search page to Bing

Try AnVir Task Manager. It shows everything running on a computer. I've been using it for about 4 or 5 years on a couple of pc's, and I've been really happy with it.
