Face-book

Post by widget » Tue Jan 19, 2010 8:20 am

I am using a older version of the Browser, 10.??, but I love it, don't want to change unless I have to, But every time I go to look at something on Face book it just 'freezes' cannot scroll or move at all and just have to shut the page down,
is it me or is it the browser??

Which version of Internet Explorer do you have installed?
Does Internet Explorer work correctly or is that broken too?

Hi Kudos, thanks for the reply, I am using Avant 10.2 build 20, and IE8,
in Avant it just freezes, but in IE I get the 'IE has a problem' window and have to close down,

If it does not work with Internet Explorer then it will certainly not work with Avant because Avant uses IE's rendering engine.

I suggest:

- Reset Internet Explorer: Close all browsers then go to Control Panel >> Internet Options >> Advanced >> Reset >> Once reset check both IE8 and Avant again.

- Not necessary for your problem, but since you are using IE8: Set Avant to use IE 8 Rendering Engine.

Just make sure that you are logged into Windows correctly - not in safe mode or as a restricted user

In the linked post click on "Select all" in the code window then in the menu: Edit >> Copy

Close Avant, IE and and other browsers

Click Start >> Run and type CMD and press enter to bring up a command prompt

In the command prompt window: right-click and select "Paste"

Looks like a more serious problem with IE than I thought. As you are using XP (judging by your posted image) I suggest using Dial-a-fix. Download and run it and click the check-all button (two green ticks) then click GO. You will get various error messages because it was primarily written for IE7 but just click OK to ignore them until the process is finished then restart your computer.

Did all you said no problem, but it is still the same message comes up,
'IE has a problem'

think I might just give it, it is not the end of the world if I don't get on, just strange and annoying.

One last suggestion if I may. Your Windows user profile may be corrupted. Go to the Windows control panel, then create a new user account, log off, then log on as the new user and see if IE works there.

Sorry for the delay, but have been trying everything, bit confused what I should have in Tools/ have 3 ticks, Block unwanted/Play Sound/Open pop-up pages, is this right,
when I open FBook in Avant it just closes the whole Browser down, when I do it in IE I get a flash message at top 'This tab has been recovered, a problem with the web page has caused IE to close'

I have Avant Browser 10.2 and IE 8,

any ideas????
