Avant is my favorite browser and this issue was really bothersome.
A timing issue makes sense seeing how it happened so intermittently.
I replaced the blocker.swf file with a 1-binary-zero-byte file of the same name and all is well.
Thank you tree/kudos and all who looked into this

Has anyone seen any improvement with Avant 11.7.40 - without my workaround patch?

Version 11-7-B40 may have resolved this issue.
Feedback from posters would be appreciated.

Yes!

So far so good.

(See also topic: "blocker.swf issue")

Version 11-7-B40 may have resolved this issue.
Feedback from all posters who have experienced the error message would be appreciated.

Build 40 does not present an error message at:
www.marketwatch.com

i.e. the zero-byte patch file, so far, does not seem to be required any more.

Good work guys

We actually did nothing about it at build 40 or 41. It might not happen just by chance?

Please provide the following information before reporting problems:
Avant Version; System(also point out it is a 32 or 64-bit OS);IE; Memory Size; CPU Speed;
Optional: Firewall; Graphics Card

For the problems hard to replay, could you add me into your MSN or Skype list if you use either of them? The advantage is that you can let us know the situation in the first place by making some screenshots, sharing your screen or explaining the specific problems more clearly when they happen.

Hello all,

My brother is getting this error about once every week or two. He is running build 39 and I had him upgrade to 41 tonight to see what happens. It all started for him about 2-3 months ago.

Thanks in advance

Oh well.
It seems that although Builds 40/41 have somehow alleviated the blocker message, it has not been actually addressed and problems are still occasioanlly cropping up. Perhaps it's the weather :-)

For those of you following this topic - go back to one of Kudo's posts (or mine) , there's a zero-length blocker.swf patch that may work for you, till a more robust solution is provided.

Still happening in Build 41 (e.g., on marketwatch.com), but apparently fixed with the new blocker.swf file.

By the way (yes, a bit off topic, but it came up here), to those who used the word "idiosynchronous" (to normalize the spelling) -- did you mean simply "idiosyncratic," as in having peculiar (or in this case unpredictable) characteristics? Or, with the "chrono" spelling did you intend specifically to invoke the concept of timing issues? Poking around the Web I see "idiosynchronous" often used when "idiosyncratic" is clearly what was intended, but this is the first time I've seen it used with what might be a new meaning that would actually validate it as a word in its own right.

I have never seen the blocker.swf error message with Kudo's workaround applied (empty blocker.swf file) , nor am I aware that anyone has posted such a scenario.

Summary: although a stable solution has NOT yet been released (in fact the source of the problem may not even have been identified yet), the blocker.swf workaround provided by Kudos DOES reliably, for now, manage to avoid getting the annoying error message (whilst also nullifying whatever the orginal intended blocker.swf functionality may have been).

Bottom line guys: if you get the error message, download Kudo's workaround file, rename the original, and replace it with the workaround, until further notice. Pop in now and then to this forum for updates on this quirk.

No offense to anyone, but it seems to me that this is clearly a problem with flash player and the IE engine, but not Avant itself. Yes I could be wrong, which isn't uncommon... And yes Anderson could deticate some time to make an effective workaround inside of Avant, but I don't think there's any code related to the ad-blocker that he can change that will "fix" this "bug". In other words; I believe it's not a bug with Avant, it's a combination of Flash and the IE engine.

Therefore any workaround Anderson could make for Avant would only be adding code, and would probably be unnecessary effort. So I think the best thing to do, is communicate with Anderson on our findings, and maybe he'll start packaging the new blocker.swf with the Avant installer.

Hey buds if anderson made a work around then put that to test if it doesnot work then you would be correct. Thus we would know for sure either way. This is just a thought i had. :)

note the results, and tell us please ...
it could be a network or system problem ....

got a Flash update today, and now this is happening everytime I load youtube.com. I'll do the work around, but I think this shows that it's a problem with Flash.

I just started having this problem a couple of weeks ago. It is VERY annoying. When I step away from the computer and come back in a few minutes, I have had as many as 15 or 20 popups saying it couldn't be loaded. It doesn't happen with IE 8, just Avant. I thought updating to Version 11.7 Update 46 might help, but it's actually worse--even more popups.

Looks like this has been going on a very long time (4 years????), so please fix it already!!!
