Avant keeps crashing

Avant (v11.7 bld 21) keeps crashing. Not sure why. Memory used (per Win XP Pro's Task Mgr) says about 220,000 K - not too excessive (as I write this, however, memory usage is about 330,000 K). When it occurs, it usually seems to happen when I click on a new link, either within an open web page or a link in an email (MS Outlook 2003).

Any one else having this problem.

Thanks,
Ben

Please users with crashing problem in build 21 download the new version build 22. The crashing problem is fixed in this version.

OK, that's great news - but where do we get this new version 22 because the avant web site still has ver 21 on it?

Thanks,
Ben

You can use the AB Beta FileKicker link to download version 22.

No luck on that. I had build 21 with a lot of crashes. Downloaded build 22, worked good for about two days, now same old thing.

I've been using v22 beta for about a week and it does seem to be A LOT BETTER than v21 but I am still getting a few spontaneous crashes. It seems to be the most problematic when viewing .flv video files, although I think I've had a few crashes when there were NO video's displayed in any of my open tabs. I think there was a huge memory leak problem in recent previous versions which seems to have been, at least partially, plugged (when viewing memory usage using Win XP Pro SP3's Task Manager).

Having said all this, AVANT is still, by far, my browser of choice. I like it so much that I've sent donations to the developer on at least 4 occasions over the past couple of years. It's native implementation of tabs is superior to that in IE7 and Firefox 3 (even with FF3 plugins installed). FF plugins are nice, but can be a hassle to keep up with and reinstall whenever FF comes out with a new version. Avant does not have that issue. I also like Avant's Basic and Bookmarks toolbars much better than those in FF. My only real concern is that Avant is based on the IE engine. My preference would be that it were based on the Gecko engine, to give it more security from malware.

Thanks,
Ben

Download Orca. It's Avant based on Gecko

Gecko is not more secure than Trident.
They're about the same....
Secunia reports:

Opera 30
Firefox 115
But please note that most vulnerabilities won't be able to harm your system if you're running your browser under the UAC's protection.

I have same question. v11.7 is not good enough.
