Bookmarks Lost

Post by el405 » Wed Feb 11, 2009 9:59 pm

I have lost all my bookmarks. I have exported to web page but only use as last resort as too slow and cannot be sorted. I have hundreds or more and really need them
I have only one in online storage don't know how that happened. I have done system restore, still nothing.
Please help. I have found no reports of success.

Hi,

If you're sure your bookmarks are stored Online Storage I can help you find them back through recovering the data from our history backup.
When did you get the bookmarks lost? Pls private message me your e-mail account used to sign in and the date when they're complete so that I can restore the data from our history backup.

Please provide the following information before reporting problems:
Avant Version; System(also point out it is a 32 or 64-bit OS);IE; Memory Size; CPU Speed;
Optional: Firewall; Graphics Card

For the problems hard to replay, could you add me into your MSN or Skype list if you use either of them? The advantage is that you can let us know the situation in the first place by making some screenshots, sharing your screen or explaining the specific problems more clearly when they happen.

Hi,

I think it's nearly the same problem to me.

It happened the second time. I had a lot of shorten-urls and my settings saved (especially per online storage) and today (and some day ago) it resetted the saved settings and datas to a certain status that was a big while ago (around 2 years plus). I don't know what happened exactly but it makes me very angry. :(

Have you lost all your bookmarks?

You can export them to a web page, not as good but better than nothing.

Well, the question is was there ever a time you had all your bookmarks in online storage? If so, send Jasmine the requested info and she can try and restore your data from the backup...

Vicious, are you sure you're still logged in? And do you mean URL alias?

I signed up for Online storage fairly recently and it never seemed to do anything.

Yeah, i do.

And I'm definitively logged in. Because it "copied" all the wrong and old settings to my Laptop as well.

Once you've signed up you need to import your local settings. Did you do that? Look at the 2nd bit here,

Vicious, please send Jasmine your login details & the date you last remember having everything.

Oh my, i played a little bit with Avant USB-Version on my U3Stick (you need some mobile Version with online storage. ;) ) and it seems something deleted all my settings, so the online storage copied the empty setting/bookmarks etc. and now I have nothing.

May you please reset it again, Jasmine? :(

I don't know exactly.i
I installed the USB (and probably the normal) Version on the stick to get the onlinestoragesystem working (you definitely need this feature in future updates).
Than i mentioned that it don't work and deleted something, and while this whole installing/deinstalling procedure it seems that my settings became empty. Than i opened avant and recognized it, and instead of getting the old datas i saved the new. It was in some case my fault, but I don't know exactly why.

The Onlinestorage system absolutely needs a "load" button.

I would send you my logindetails if you need them again.

I've installed Avant usb version and enabled it with online storage feature and logged in but can't confirm your lost data issue. Anyway, private message me your e-mail account and which day you wish to restore data to. Only bookmarks and autofills?Or all?

I had all of my Favorite bookmarks (over 1000) today and then tonight I noticed that they are ALL gone! It makes me very angry because this is the second time this year that this has happened and I've had to start all over again. There is a definite bug with your system if several are also having this problem. Why not fix it instead of all the "new & improved versions of avant" that keep coming out? I have not installed any new programs and I still have 100 fave bookmarks over in IE so I don't understand why this keeps happening?

I do NOT wish to overwrite online to offline bookmarks.

I do wish to install my New bookmarks over the ones currently showing in online storage, please advise.

i.e. I wish to update the online ones with the newer offline ones

As I see (and perceived by my own) it's a quite complex topic. nobody really know why it happens. maybe some IE update are involved or just windows error (or at least selfdumbness ;) ). But all in all a "load or overwrite" function would be great.

And Jasmine: Is There a online storage system in the USB-Version? It does not work. I have no symbol neither is there a clickable option (it's just greyed).

Whatever, our next release 12.0 will include backup/restore feature. Wish it could lessen your future potential loss thereafter as you can backup data now and then.

el405,you're unable to replace online bookmarks with offline ones but you can import offline ones into online with a new folder created for them.

Vicious!, online storage feauture isn't available for USB version for now so the options about online storage are all greyed.

Jasmine, do you know if Anderson plans to change this?
