Opting out of online Storage

Post by WHats » Sat Nov 22, 2008 6:04 am

I am a new user and I noticed that I have no option to opt out of online storage.

Under Avant Browser Options, I noticed that I do not have a choice as to what Items I would like store online.

How can I opt out of this "forced" choice which seems to have been made for me.

I do not want my bookmarks or rss feeds to be stored online.

I have browsed the forum but all queries and responses seem to be about accesing the online storge rather than opting out of it.

Please help

Thanks in advance, Will

Hello,
If you'd like to only store your settings online then please go to Tools>Avant Browser Options...>Online Storage and uncheck everything.
If you'd like to turn off the online storage completely and store everything locally then just go to File>My Account>Switch Account...
IE8(Pro), Microsoft Security Essentials

Secondary PC same as primary but with Windows 7 x64 Ultimate as the OS.

Thanks for that quick response abfan123.

I do not want to store online.

However, in my case, I am unable to uncheck anything because it is all ticked and grayed out. So no input from me.

I cannot log in because i get a server unavialable message.

I am using v11.7 build 18

Thanks

Hello there it will not install online stuff unless you tell it to . Wow you could try another version just to see if it lets you uncheck those check marks or even try re installing your current version. it could have just been a glitch when you downloaded it. I hope this works for you i just don't know about that problem. It never has done that to me before. :)

If the options are grayed out then you're currently not logged in to your online storage account and all your data is currently stored locally.

Thanks abfan123 that kind of makes sense

Though it is still strange that the option is not given upfront.... something along the lines of "Do you want to store Bookmarks, RSS Feeds, Autofill online?" If yes, then.....proceed to do XYZ.

Even though the boxes are grayed out, they are still ticked....

Axeman, I hope it is the case that nothing will be stored online because I was never given the option to use online storage.

Cheers, Will
