Lost the Download Manager

Post by mastrulo » Thu Apr 10, 2008 9:28 am

Hi All,
Please treat me gently, I think this is the first time I've asked for something on Avants' and probably the second all up.
I have a problem since I upgraded the other day.
The Avant Download Manager is now disabled, it goes straight to IE7s' Save/Open download.
I've looked everywhere to try to find if there is a manual enable, alas, none was to be found.
I was enjoying it as it's only been available for a short time, It simply appeared on a recent update.
Any help will be greatly appreciated.

There's no DM in the latest version.
Thanks Anderson for checking out my AB 11.0 feature request list,
now it's time to go on with 11.8:

Hello,
The Avant's download manager has been removed from the final version of Avant Browser 11.6.
There are 2 solutions available:
First is to downgrade to the beta build 4, The latest build with the download manager.(Which is probably the best solution)
Download link:
http://forum.avantbrowser.com/download/file.php?id=352
The 2nd solution is to get some 3rd party download manager such as the Orbit Downloader. Orbit Downloader seems to work quite fine with the latest version of Avant Browser, But it's unable to catch some downloads such as the Rapidshare downloads. The partial solution/workaround is to go to Tools>Avant Browser Options...>Add-ons and check "Download by Orbit" IE menu item. And then just right-click the Rapidshare link and select that item.
IE8(Pro), Microsoft Security Essentials

Secondary PC same as primary but with Windows 7 x64 Ultimate as the OS.

Hi,
Thank you for the replies.
I think I will download the beta version, as I found it very useful.
Kindest Regards.

Yeah the Download Manager is really useful.. I'm so sad watching it being removed :(

I hope the DM will come back in the next Avant releases. =D>

Is the download manager in 11.6 Build 8? I'm having to use 11.6 build 4 due to build 11 not letting me keep IE Plug-ins & Add-ons but hate 'Avant Download'.

No, build 8 does not. But you can disable the dm in 4 by unchecking Tools -> Downloads -> Options -> Capture file download

It was unchecked by default and still launched avant download.
