Problems With Avant Closing...And Not Closing

Post by Kronik » Wed Apr 02, 2008 12:24 am

I am having two problems with Avant, as described below:

1) If I go to, the browser is sure to close spontaneously after awhile. I have trouble keeping other websites open as well, but none so much as I have tried deleting conf.dat and restarting Avant, but no joy.

2) Avant does not close on shutdown. I have recently been having to use Task Manager to close Avant.

Specs are as in my sig file. The only other application I have running in the background besides AVG Free Edition 7.5 is my HP Deskjet 5600 printer driver. I should also point out, in the interest of full disclosure, that I am running the Google, Yahoo,, and eBay toolbars. Thanks for any help.

Try changing your settings concerning the cleanup of temporary files and such.
Turn off all of the cleaning functions and see if Avant closes immediately.

Go to Tools -> Avant Browser Options -> Tray Icon and make sure Minimize to system tray, when click [Close] button is not selected. You might not be closing Avant, but rather minimizing it to the system tray
