Location of Icons for Bookmarks

Post by harvey108 » Thu Oct 18, 2007 3:26 pm

I use CCleaner and it eliminates the icons that were on my bookmarks. I would like to know where those icons are stored so that I can make sure not to delete those files when I clean my hard drive which is usually weekly.

Uncheck Temporary Files under System in CCleaner, that should do it.

That would work for IE, but not Avant.

Avant's Favicons are stored in the $.ficn$ folder inside your %TEMP% folder. Start -> Run and typing %temp% will bring it up.

you can add:
C:\Documents and Settings\username\Local Settings\Temp\$.ficn$
to the exclude list in CCleaner, but first you'll have to set the option to show all hidden files and folders in explorer, before you browser to it in CCleaner.

Very nice tip addonsfan, thanks! I've used CCleaner for a while now, but never thought about its Exclusions capability before--very handy!
