Autofills, Bookmarks Gone

Post by fullbug » Fri Aug 10, 2007 2:45 pm

Almost 2 months ago, my bookmarks disappeared, now today out of the blue all my autofills are gone, my account is still there and active, and all my bookmarks are there, just the autofills disappeared, whats going on with that?
From what I have seen in other threads this seems to be happening to alot of people quite often.....

You're not the only one who's noticed.

Are you using online storage?

Yes, I should have mentioned that, everytime I save one, the box comes up connecting to my online storage account....

I dont believe this, now all my bookmarks are gone as well, this is nuts....
However, I believe I made a backup folder of them, would this be the one below?
And if so, how do I restore them?

I would try one of three things... copying these files, of course, not moving them... I'm not sure if either one will work, though.

1. With Avant closed, copy the files to your e-mail's folder. Hopefully, Avant will use them when it it re-opens. However, I think it might view them as "older" and take the ones off of the server instead.

2. Copy these to the .default folder instead of your e-mail folder. But, I think the local profile uses a different type of encryption. I tried this when 11.0 was first introduced and it didn't work. If it does, use that working profile as a backup for your online storage.

3. Create a new e-mail folder with a different e-mail address and then create the account in Avant. It's possible, though, that the same thing could happen as in my first suggestion, but since there probably won't be any files on the server for Avant to consider "newer," maybe these will keep. And then, this new account can either be used or imported into your original.

I assume you mean do this stuff with the newest version of Avant? I'm still using 11.0 build 39, just prefer that one....
My avant folder doesnt have .default folder or email in it, just what you see here, but if I have to I will update to the newest build....

He means your profile folder in application data.

C:\Documents and Settings\USERNAME\Application Data\Avant Profiles

I apologize. I guess I could have posted the path, but since your first screenshot showed the folders that are in the folder I was talking about, I assumed you already knew it.
hornakapopolis wrote:In Windows, go to Start -> Run and type or paste %userprofile%/Application Data/Avant Profiles/. If you used online storage, you’ll find a folder with your e-mail address. Otherwise, use the one named .default.
You can have more than one online storage account, although, I believe that they're all stored on the same server... so if it's an issue with the online storage server, your "backup" won't help you much.
