Getting rid of the rotten 'Avant find' search

Post by akabilk » Sat May 26, 2007 11:20 am

For the life of me I can't get rid of this crap Avant find search engine! I want goggle .com and every time I replace the garbage 'Avant find' with Goggle it just keeps coming back!

Are you listening avant management? Do you have to trickily shove your garbage down my neck without OBVIOUS get out of it solutions?

Can anyone please help [obviously not avant management]?

If I can't get rid of it I'll get rid of Avant!

Obviously Avant management has decided to get real 'slick' with their 'made in ****' search engine. I've already tried your suggestion before my original post and it may have worked once, but tricky dickey management have made sure it works no more!

Stuff Avant. Do they really think they have a monopoly on good browsers and users will put up with being boned?

First of all,There's no "Avant Management"
There's only 1 developer (Anderson) & the rest of moderators/administrators & support staff are users just like you.
Second,Please explain where exactly are you getting the AvantFind page.
Please make sure to uncheck the Avantfind error page under Tools>Avant Browser Options...>Miscellaneous.
IE8(Pro), Microsoft Security Essentials
Main PC:

Secondary PC same as primary but with Windows 7 x64 Ultimate as the OS.

Give me a break. No Avant management? Who in the **** do you think Anderson, moderators/ administrators and support staff are? Fairies at the bottom of our [Avant] garden?

lol.lol

Where am I getting the Avant Find page? In the neck. as in 'PAIN". Where do you think I'm getting it? Every time I bring up the browser, there it is!
Where in the **** do YOU think it is, lurking around some corner?

Then just change the homepage under Tools>Avant Browser Options>Home Page.

Btw
Only Anderson have the access to the Avant's source code.
We're just moderating the forum.

Attitude is deserved considering the problem foisted upon me and no doubt countless others!

Note: following your advise of 'Please make sure to uncheck the Avantfind error page under Tools>Avant Browser Options...>Miscellaneous' makes no difference whatsoever! The MONSTER
'Avant Find' will not be removed!

Hanging in here because I like Avant as a browser, but had to re-install windows and re-download Avant. I didn't have this search MONSTER before. How do you KILL IT!!! [old methods no longer work].

I'm unsure why the Avant's default home page is set to avantfind.com,But you may easily change it under Tools>Avant Browser Options...>Home Page.

No its not. As abfan explained, the administers & moderators are users who have volunteered to help run this forum and provide support. You have no right to be obnoxious and rude here on this forum. I suggest you readthe forum rules & adjust your attitude accordingly or you will be banned.

A rude attitude is never deserved. One thing you seem to have forgotten is that you have not paid for this software so you have absolutely no say it it. Anderson, out of the kindness of his heart, has allowed suggestions to be made for his program but nothing is owed to you.

The links are provided to different search strings. The only thing not specifically mentioned there is how to change the search strings in Avant.

Go to Tools -> Avant Browser Options -> Search Engine -> Standard Search and paste or type the strings there. (If you copied the strings from the post linked above, be sure to right-click and choose Copy Shortcut. The forum truncates long link, so highlighting and copying it might not get the full string.) Keep in mind, too that just because the label says "Images" doesn't mean you have to put an image search there. If you like using multiple search engines, you can still do that from the search bar by exchanging Google's Image Search for Dogpile or something along those lines.

If you have any further questions, ask back in ten days when your temporary ban is over. Your attitude is not necessary. Your assumptions are generally wrong. And were this a stricter forum, your question would have been locked for asking nothing new.

akabilk, I think you need to read http://www.catb.org/~esr/faqs/smart-questions.html
I know I would never help someone that asked in a manner that you have. You might think that people owe you something, just because they do. Well, they don't. Have you ever heard the saying "You can catch more flies with honey than with vinegar"? Think about it, you might just learn something about relationships.

I also don't appreciate your assumptions about the administrators and moderators of this forum. This is one of the friendliest forums I have ever known. The staff here tries to help as much as possible, but like said above, they are not the management, they are just users trying to help other users.

Others might try to help you, but all I can say is good luck in finding a solution, because I would never help you.

There is a saying or short verse or Confusius or something to describe what is perhaps a temporary lapse of common sense by our friend akabilk.......
Traval Broadens the Mind(try this attitude with other forums, my friend)

Well, we'll have to wait until June 4, to see if that member is willing to apologize under that username.;)

People should remember to put their minds into gear before putting their mouths into motion, or in this case their fingers.

I don't think this person understands English, how many times must you be told that there is only one developer & no management and that the Admins/Mods/Staff are all users just like their self.
