IE7

Post by mbrazil » Fri Oct 13, 2006 7:51 pm

IE7 is slated to be released in a few days (on Oct. 18), and it will be pushed out as an automatic update on Windows Update.

How will this affect Avant? Is there anything we need to do, or should we just let IE7 be installed?

I'm using IE 7 with Avant 11 for about 2 months now and they work together just fine (at least as good as IE 6).

Microsoft will push IE 7 via automatic Windows update onto your system within the next couple of weeks. So if you don't want to be automatically upgraded to IE 7, you have to download a special Toolkit from Microsoft to prevent this from happening.

IE 7 will improve security and be a big step towards web standards compliance. That means it'll make life easier for designers. It's a good thing.

I think you mean a little (little being the key word) easier. It's still a pain in the back side.

Avant has Javascript problems when IE7 is installed that have yet to be fixed. They are NOT a problem in IE7 only in Avant 11.

I actually like IE7 to the point where I have dumped using Avant until at least they fix the Javascript problems.

I get javascript errors when going to pages such as http://www.drudgereport.com and my on-line banking page gives me javascripts when I try to view more than one check or deposit image.

I reported these errors way back when 11 was in beta but they have yet to be fixed. I know it is a problem with Avant because every other browser works fine.
