After Update to 11 all Settings are gone... menu, tabs...

Post by Kand.in.Sky » Sat Sep 30, 2006 10:07 pm

culture shock after update to 11: Alle Settings are gone!

Skin, tabs, options - everything!

So, i found the reopen.dat which contains all tabs.
Menu restyling would not take so long, but - is there an option to import all "old" settings from V10?

Bookmarks, groups, rss, aliases, ad & popup blocker lists should have been imported on install. If not, see File > Import. The rest you'll have to reset...

So, it is simple when you know.

Copy "reopen.dat" from
\Avant Browser

to
\Avant Profiles\.default

That's it!

Of course this is very uncomfortable if you just an User not a have-to-much-time-geek.

manually importing of menu styles etc... is not possible (or i did not figure it out till now...)

May i figure out what for the accounts, online-saving... is good for.

You mean skins? Unless you uninstalled the last AB before updating... your skins should still be available under Tools > Skins

Are you asking what can be saved online or are you asking what the purpose of the feature is?

Asking what the purpose of the feature is.

I would
1. never ever save any personal data online
2. none internet-café would allow to import and save data from the net

and btw,
3. switching accounts without any options to managed it, is nonsense

Sorry, that can't be imported. You'll need to reset it to your liking. The developer tries to avoid doing that to you but sometimes it can't be helped.

Then for you I guess it has no purpose. I don't use it myself either but I know some folks use it to keep their home & office computers in sync. Any further comments I'll leave for someone more experienced with the online storage.
