Old Skin Conversion (Thanks to Nederpietos)

Post by Sara » Thu Jun 28, 2007 11:11 pm

Nederpietos discovered that by using the latest Skin Maker and setting the Visual Style to Crystal, we can convert old skins--there are three on the downloads site now! Any new buttons will be the current default buttons (which are also Crystal--I begin to understand why this works--Crystal is the Default.)

I did find that I had to close and re-open the Skinmaker between conversions or Avant wouldn't accept the skin (I got errors when I tried to apply one).

Again Nederpietos, Thank you!

Yes, thanks indeed. Doubly pleasing, not only for the result but also for seeing someone find a solution to a problem. Congratulations Nederpietos!

Now, to get the Other Buttons on a moveable toolbar............

I've found if you re-name the skin after conversion (Save as) you can maintain the old icons too. Just remember to open it with Crystal as the style.

Do you have the style set on crystal? If you are still having trouble upload a skin you are trying here and I'l give it a try.

systemblue, I think Sara accidentally edited your post instead of quoting you. Here's her message,

I FINALLY got it to work. I had to play with it a lot until it worked. :( Luckily I have the day off today.

Hate to bump this thread but I just saw this one. I had no clue that it is possible to convert old skin with the use of Skin Maker. What a douche bag I am.
