Create better looking Tabs

Postby Midnight Mick » Fri Jun 24, 2005 4:55 am

Why is it that Avant uses old indented style tab buttons but every other browser that uses tabs uses the more update looking style, like Maxthon, Firefox, Opera etc...

IMO a small change like this would make Avant a look better looking instead of old as it does for me (& yes I am using skins but they do not change the look of the Tabs.

I think that would be nice if it was possible to choose from within the main program or skin factory whether the skin was to have skinnable "Tabbed" style window indicators, or button style window indicator that we have now, that way all users would have the choice of which ones they believe make the program look better.

But then again, that would add to the "Bloat", and personally, I would rather have the program bloated with functionality rather than looks.

<a rant="starts">I have never understood the whole "bloated" concept.. It actually gets on my nerves when people complain about a certain program is "bloated"... My opinion is who cares if its bloated, UNLESS it compromises performance.. The whole bloated arguement is just pointless.. And to be perfectly honest, I actually like software with tons of options.. Like I said if it doesnt affect performance then go hog wild on features and options.. If you dont want to use the features dont use them.. Its that simple..<a rant="ends">

But - I need as much space as possible, since I have more than 50 tabs opend all the time. I don't need to have 6 lines of tabs instead of 4, also, I want to have tab bar at bottom, this would be probably another problem.

The only thing I don't like here is this - viewtopic.php?p=83984#83984 .

The reason most users do not like Bloat is it uses up resources to run things you don't want. The only thing I like about FireFox is that it allows you to pick what you want to use. Avant currently includes most things people want in a browser now Anderson is working on "Improving" it. He'll probably add a few new things, tidy up some others and we'll all still clamour for more ... (LOL). Maybe he'll have a pick what you want upon DL the new avant.
FYI: The Nexos3 skin colours the open tab a cyan & also uses that colour when you hover over a tab or set block pop-ups, etc.

Well thats why i said if it doesnt compromise performance.. meaning if it doesnt drain your resources.. So if it doesnt drain your resources.. I dont think people should complain.. Just dont use the features you dont like.. Others might like them..
