Hi,

After recently upgrading to build 5, I'm experiencing intermittent stability issues. I have no idea what is causing it (haven't seen a pattern yet), but occasionally Orca will become extremely sluggish for a few seconds, then eventually stop responding to any input. During this time, CPU maxes out at 25% across the cores, which makes sense as I'm quad-core and Orca is single-threaded (AFAIK). At this point, the Orca process must be killed. I will try to find a pattern, but in the meantime, has anyone else experienced stability issues?

Thanks,

-Alvin

No problems at all here. Have you tried removing all extensions/plugins?

Hi,

I'm not running any extensions; I haven't changed or upgraded my plugins lately, but I'll do some testing to see if there's a problem with one of them. I get the feeling Flash may be causing issues here, so I'll surf with it off for a while to see if that helps at all. Over the past couple of hours, Orca has locked up on me three times: once with two tabs open (Live/Hotmail and Facebook), once again with two tabs (Digg and Youtube), and once with just one tab (Digg comment thread).

Here's the error signature, if it helps at all:
Code: Select all
Description:

What do you get with the Version test for Adobe Flash Player and the Flash Movie Confirmation pages?

Hi,

Seems like I still had the old 10.0.22.87 build. I have upgraded to the latest (10.0.32.18, using the manual .xpi download and copy/paste into Orca plugins dir) - I'll see if that helps at all!

Thanks,

I've also noticed that from time to time, Orca becomes sluggish if I don't delete my browsing history/cache/blocked URLs, etc for a while (as I don't have any settings to clear them on exit). I cleared them just now and things are a bit more snappy. I'll keep testing :)

It may be a problem where Orca stores its cache files (usually slow with the USB edition). I set mine to the current user's temp folder, which I regularly clean out with CCleaner.

You can change the cache folder - go to about:config locate or create browser.cache.disk.parent_directory and set the string to like "C:\\TEMP\\ORCA\\CACHE"

Windows Version: XP SP3 (incl. all Updates)
Avant Browser Version: 10.2 Build 52 (best)
Orca Browser Version: 1.2 bld 6
IE Version: 8 (latest)
confirm, 1.2.5 is unstable, switching between tabs sometimes hangs and ORCA does not react at all so i have to restart.
no extensions, all updates installed.
