Saving passwords

Request modification to clarify password management options:
  • Password saving options
  • Use Orca's AutoFill
  • Use Gecko Password Manager
  • Do not remember any passwords
Currently in Tools -> Auto-Complete a user was confused by Prompt to save logins, assuming that it would use the Gecko manager and was puzzled why signon.rememberSignons was not stored, when actually it was being disabled by unchecking the box.

IMHO
I used 3 years AB AutoFill, but it seems to me, that at Gecko Password Manager it turns out more logically and beautifully (there is no full reload of page)

To use Orca's AutoFill:

Go to Tools >> Orca Browser Options... >> Auto Complete >> Prompt to save logins and ENABLE it
Go to about:config (type it into the address bar)
Find signon.rememberSignons and make sure it is set to false

All password management options are in the Tools >> Orca Browser Options... >> Auto Complete page.

To use the Gecko/Firefox password manager:

Go to Tools >> Orca Browser Options... >> Auto Complete >> Prompt to save logins and DISABLE it
Go to about:config (type it into the address bar)
Find signon.rememberSignons and double-click it to change "false" to true

To access the Gecko master password dialog, type the following link into the Orca address bar:

Code: Select all

chrome://mozapps/content/preferences/changemp.xul
Passwords can be managed by going to:

Code: Select all

chrome://passwordmgr/content/passwordManager.xul
(edited for Orca v1.2)

Thank you, very useful information! Such things should be in the Orca FAQ. Orca is great, but I couldn't even use it without this forum. Such a basic options are so difficult accessible.

Orca's AutoFill is unusable for me, since I have many tabs opened and I'd need to search the site twice, but the other way is exactly what I need.
