If the Tray Icon option is checked to enable, and also it is set to Minimise to system tray when click Close button, it then becomes impossible to shut down the computer.

Either one needs to close the tray icon first, or delete the process Orca.exe.

I have a similar problem: multiple copies (sometimes 10 or more) of the process orca.exe are running at the same time, and I have to kill each of them manually using task manager before I can shut down my computer.

Does it behave correctly with the tray icon option disabled?

I think the problem was that I had the "Minimize to system tray, when click [Close] button" option checked, and the "Enable tray icon" option unchecked. Once I unchecked *all* the options it started working properly.

Correction: it didn't solve the problem. I'm not sure why I thought it had.

Do you have any Orca/Firefox extensions or plugins installed?

Firefox has the following add-ons installed:

* eMusic Toolbar
* Free Download Manager plugin
* Java Quick Starter
* Microsoft .NET Framework Assistant

I haven't added any of them to Orca.

What do you have enable in Exiting options and in Clear Records options?
It looks like it must have something to do with Orca being busy doing something upon exit.

Exiting:

* Always exit Orca Browser directly.
* Display confirmations when opening saved pages.

Clear Records:

* Blocked add list.
* Blocked popup list.
* Automatically clear checked items every time exit Orca Browser.

I still can't reproduce the problem - and I have tried!
Can you confirm:
- Does it behave correctly with the tray icon option disabled (I already asked in an earlier post)?
- Is the bug still present in Build 2 (released today)?
Is any other software running on the computer ie anti-virus, etc?

I just installed Build 2. I will let you know if the problem still exists.

I am running avast! anti virus, SpyBot TeaTimer, and Comodo Firewall. All of them are nearly up to date.

Yep, it's still happening. It happens fairly consistently when I follow these steps:

1) Start Orca
2) Go into settings
3) Disable tray icon
4) Exit Orca

or:

1) Start Orca
2) Go into settings
3) Enable tray icon
4) Exit Orca

Note that orca is listed once at the top and four times at the bottom.

Hi, just wanted to say that you're not alone - I get the same shutdown/restart problems on 3 different computers.

I have exactly the same problem

When i close Orca and attempt to shutdown The icon remains in the tray and i'm unable to access it

I thought there would have been a bug fix for it

Does the problem occur with Orca 1.1 build 3? I still cannot replicate the problem.

I uninstalled Orca and removed its settings folder then reinstalled Orca. I tested with tray icon settings detailed in the previous posts whilst checking its status in Process Explorer. Orca always closed correctly.

We need to find a common link. I suspect that it is an external application or an extension/plugin which causes it but I cannot be sure. Can all those experiencing this problem give a detailed list of Orca settings, and all running applications.

FWIW,
I just installed current version of Orca for the first time and first thing I did was disable tray icon and minimize to tray, amongst many other things.

No issues shutting down or restarting here. Quite liking this browser, so far.

I have been testing and have just seen this happen with Comodo Internet Security installed.

Start Orca >> load up some pages >> leave Orca open and try to shutdown the computer >> shutdown fails >> Orca appears closed but task list shows orca.exe running

It is intermittent, but reproducible - I have now removed CIS.

It's strange that Orca is the only program affected in this way.

Also, I've noticed on a few occasions that when this happens, other installation programs will sometimes not run properly. Once I close all the running instances of the Orca process they all start working again.
