If you are ever able to figure out the "randomness" and can produce a sequence of steps which always causes the error then I should be able to duplicate the problem and we can move on. I am almost certain that it involves a particular site that triggers a glitch with RealPlayer. We have spent too much time on this obscure bug, going round in circles. I think that will keep you busy for a while..

Simple trials:
1. Open Orca (home page - gmail.com), NT Times, Bloomberg.com, Orca Browser home page, Orca Browser Forum, open this topic, close browser. No error message.

2. Open Orca (home page - gmail.com), Orca Browser home page, Orca Browser Forum, open this topic, close browser. Error message.

I believe that when I go directly to the Browser Forum (from help via browser home page), I will always get the error message. When the there are more web visits, with or without visit to Orca browser home page, it seems more random.

Some further simple trials.

1. Open Orca to home page, do nothing, close browser. Did this several times. Error message sometimes, no error message other times.
2. Open Orca to home page, close tab, close browser. Did this twice. Error message one time - no message other time.

I hope these simple examples give you some clue.

Sorry for the late reply on this one - I was doing tests with both Orca and Firefox as well as checking with other users and computers. The issue is with the RealPlayer Browser Record Plugin and Flash. It has been discussed on many forums as a source of constant problems and bugs since Firefox v3. Mozilla have listed it as an "Offical Problematic Extension" and they urge users to disable it. A Firefox developer has told me that it is out of their hands and that RealNetworks must address it. When I asked RealNetworks they said that they were aware of the issues and that their developers would be working on a new extension but no timeframe was specified, not even an estimate.

I'm glad there is a glimmer of understanding. What is a little puzzling to me is that I use the realplayer streaming capture a lot in Firefox, but I've not experienced any problem with Firefox closing. Could it be that the capability in Firefox doesn't require anything special in Firefox, since realplayer has built into it provision for Firefox 3.6 and IE8 to capture? Avant captures, since it is on top of IE8. Wouldn't Orca have less problems if it were on top of Firefox?

Both Firefox and Orca are built upon the Mozilla Gecko engine. Currently Orca uses the 3.5.x engine - the next update should use 3.6.x which may fix the problem.
