Error on automatic adding: TypeError, firefoxnav is null

Post by mbrazil » Sat Dec 19, 2009 5:02 am

I don't know what caused this to start happening, but every time I open a tab by any method (link in email, link in web page, bookmark, etc.), I get an error dialog that has [JavaScript Application] in the title bar and contains the following text and an OK button: Error on automatic adding:
TypeError, firefoxnav is null.

I tried reinstalling the same version of Orca (1.2 B5) on top of the existing one without uninstalling the earlier installation, but that didn't help. I don't want to uninstall Orca if I don't have to, because I don't want to have to set a bunch of things up the way I like them all over again.

If I run plain Firefox instead of Orca, I don't get the errors.

I Googled the error content and couldn't find anything, and I searched the Mozilla site also and didn't find anything.

There's nothing in the Error Console that seems to be of any help. There are a bunch of these under Errors:

Error: uncaught exception: [Exception... "Component returned failure code: 0x8000ffff (NS_ERROR_UNEXPECTED) [nsIPrefBranch.getBoolPref]" nsresult: "0x8000ffff (NS_ERROR_UNEXPECTED)" location: "JS frame :: chrome://imtranslator/content/imtranslatorOverlay.js :: loadtest :: line 112" data: no]

and a bunch similar to these:

Warning: Error in parsing value for 'top'. Declaration dropped.

Line: 212

Warning: Error in parsing value for 'vertical-align'. Declaration dropped.

Line: 90

Warning: Error in parsing value for 'display'. Declaration dropped.

Other than uninstalling Orca and starting over, I have no idea how to fix this. Does anybody have any other ideas?

Please ignore this thread. I uninstalled a few extensions that I'd recently tried, and the problem went away. I'm not sure which one caused it, but at least it's fixed.
