mozalloc.dll explanation needed....please!

Post by hlndr » Wed Nov 03, 2010 1:42 pm

For some reason the last 3 times I have opened my Orca 1.2.6 browser I have received an error message that says that Orca cannot open because the mozalloc.dll file cannot be found. When I click on "OK" the message window reappears a second time then Orca opens. I Googled the file and everything I read indicated that this file is a spyware file. I was directed to a site that said they could scan and remove it but after the scan they asked for money (and I can't afford it). I'm running McAfee as my antivirus program so I don't understand how I could have gotten a bad file. I also don't understand why the message says that it can't run my program without the file but does anyway. Could someone please explain what is going on?

You have installed a Mozilla extension that is incompatible with Orca.
Please provide a list of extensions that you have currently installed.
A way to do so is by executing the following code in a run box and posting back the results:

Code: Select all

notepad "%appdata%\Orca Profiles\.default\mozdata\UserData\extensions.ini"

My personal dealings with McAfee i had nothing but problems .However when i got rid of McAfee everything then worked.Just there is AVG or i have noticed that more and more people are useing AVAST both those are free. O r if you wanted to buy one.I did Emsisoft Antimalware. all i can say it works great for me there is also a free version just my opinion  :)

The extension appears to be part of the adobe downloader. Unzip and execute the attached file to remove it from Orca. Please ensure that Orca is closed when you run it.

Ok.....I did this and when I restarted Orca I still got the same message. Now....when I have tried to play any of the games on WorldWinner.com the message keeps popping up and won't allow the game to load. I have to use my Firefox browser to play the games. So now what?

I'm getting the same issue but here's some info on the problem...

objective: get roboform working with Orca
actions: install the roboform for firefox extension
observations:
1. Orca 1.2 build 6; Win 7 - works fine
2 Orca 1.2 build 6; Win XP SP3 - mozalloc.dll missing and so far, I can't get around it. Just disable/remove the extension
