Is the download link for Orca dangerous?

Post by Browser Peeper » Fri Dec 25, 2009 7:50 am

Trend Micro Internet Security has determined that this page

http://dl.filekicker.com/send/file/1660 ... osetup.exe

is dangerous. TMIS subscribers can't go to this page without clearing it first with TM. According to TM, this page has probably caused problems of different types and is, consequently, considered "dangerous".

I received a notice that the new version of Orca was available. I clicked on the link for the purpose of downloading the new version and that's when the problem began.

Damn those pesky incorrect reports. No there is nothing dangerous about it. It's the same link that is always used. Have you contacted Trend Micro?

I have just checked the file in VirusTotal (a great service) and it doesn't seem a problem with it; probably TM is checking the sites and has filekicker as suspicious.

From what I know.. There was a file hosted on Filekicker and instead of blacklisting that one files address on filekickers server. The whole site was marked as unsafe. There is absolutely nothing wrong with Filekicker itself or our hosted package of Orca with them.
