What is your Windows version and mouse type? Any special mouse software?

Are you sure that you are not (inadvertently) doing one of the following:
- double-clicking
- middle-clicking
- CTRL+clicking
These are common shortcuts to close tabs - your mouse may be producing them.

Can you go to this test page to test mouse clicks.
A single left-click on the test text should produce the following events:

Code: Select all

mousedown   which=1 button=0
mouseup     which=1 button=0
click       which=1 button=0
What does yours show (within Avant/Orca obviously)?

Also - to check if your CTRL key is stuck try this test page.
Pressing and releasing my CTRL key shows:

Code: Select all

keydown   keyCode=17        which=17        charCode=0
          keyIdentifier=undefined keyLocation=undefined
          shiftKey=false ctrlKey=true altKey=false metaKey=false
keyup     keyCode=17        which=17        charCode=0
          keyIdentifier=undefined keyLocation=undefined
          shiftKey=false ctrlKey=false altKey=false metaKey=false
Please post back your results.

Looks like you tested them with Avant - I assume that testing with Orca would match my results.

Do you have any other software running at the same time? Some antivirus software hook/intercept mouse and keyboard events which may be interfering with Avant/Orca. Are you able to disable everything and try again.

kudos he says Can't use Orca at all. So it is possable that he only can use avant. So maby he has to install a different version of orca altogether. Also the current version he is useing should be removed Then you could provide a link to all the older versions of orca. Just a thought on my part. :)
