Bookmark cannot save Chinese filenames

Post by pkchu520 » Wed Aug 30, 2017 1:11 am

I was able to save the Chinese filenames in Bookmark in Windows 7. Now I can't with Windows 10. Please see the attachment.

How to fix this problem?

Works fine here.

Not sure if this will fix it, but try this:

1) Start IE11--> rightclick a site and check in the menu if "encoding" is set to "Unicode (UTF-8)"

2) Go to Internet Options --> Advanced --> scroll down to "International" and check if the settings are like the pic below

If this doesn't help, you could try resetting IE11
Internet Options --> Advanced---> and reset IE11 below

 Thank you for the response and help. I checked my settings according to no. 1 and 2 and they are the same. Nothing is changed.

I reset IE11 setting like you described. I reboot the system and the problem didn't go away.

In IE 11 try: encoding ---> autoselect, or encoding --> more --> simplified Chinese

After a change, close IE and start Avant.

I did close IE and start AB. No luck.

I turn off my laptop every day. When I start it in the morning, no change either.

I also experienc websites incompatibile with IE engine. FF and Chrome are ok. Do you know why? Is there a bug somewhere?

I don't think think that's bug, it's more the coding on that site. If it doesn't work with the IE11 engine you should try the IE compatible engine for that site.

But i wonder if your problem with saving chinese bookmarks also occurs in IE11 stand alone.... if not, then it's probably a bug or some setting in Avant.

There are no problems with IE11 stand alone browser; only with AB in IE11 mode.

I am getting more websites which are incompatible with AB with IE engine. The contents don't display correctly or the videos don't work.

This Chinese filename issue is not only happening in IE mode; it is also in FF and Chrome modes. And it is not only for Chinese websites; it happens with other foreign websites (other than English).

Anyone can lend a helping hand here? Appreciate it.
