Still crashing like the Hindenburg.

Post by DUNSEL » Tue Aug 01, 2017 7:08 pm

Ultimate 2017 build eight. If I use gecko engine, the processor is constantly racing. If I use chrome webkit, that tab usually crashes. If I use trident, I frequently, if not constantly get out of memory at line one. I know that's a trident message but I'm not getting it in IE or other IE shells.

I'm pretty sure you've posted these issues before. (If that is the case, I'd be positive they've been posted if the forum rules were followed and this post appeared in the same thread as the previous.) But, I typically ignore threads that don't contain any relevant information.

Can you provide some specifics about your system? Processor, video card, maybe even Windows version number? I used to have the exact same issue with the Gecko engine, regardless of what was running it, but when I moved to a new system, I didn't have the problem anymore.

Regardless, I can empathize with, what I assume is, your exasperation as it should be obvious to all that outside of standard usage and configuration issues, there's no real purpose to calling this a 'support' forum anymore. But, I also doubt that you think this is the "What're-DUNSEL's-issues-today' forum, either. And I'm guessing you probably realize that were your experiences universal, this place would have a little more traffic than approximately one post a week.

So, maybe with some info, someone might be able to bounce that off of other information they have and get to a fix... if that's even the goal anymore.

I use it on two entirely different systems. Both are windows 7-64 bit one is a dual core laptop @2.66 GHz (intel) with 12GB ram, the other is eight core @4.00 GHz (AMD) with 32 GB of ram. Both NVIDIA cards. Processor use issue with gecko only occurs on the faster unit. The crashing occurs on both.

The unit frequently hangs when trying to minimize from the taskbar, or maximize again. I frequently experience the page coming up with no toolbars. I know resource is not an issue, but the program is behaving as though it were. Sometimes the unit freezes and can't click on anything within the browser itself. Just sounds a windows "sorry, can't do that" bell.

I've long since lost count of how many times I've had to shut it down in task manager. These issues have never disappeared.

What is "stickers on blacksglass" for skin in your profile? Never heard of it.

Are you using winaero or something?

I don't remember where that came from. I'm just using stickers on glass. I the first downloaded avant early in 2004.

it's just a thought, but it could be your skin that's causing problems. That stickers on glass skin is not available anymore since the builds of 2012, so maybe you could try an other skin (new skin above the line prefered) to see if it makes any difference.
