Post by hornakapopolis » Tue Apr 02, 2013 11:15 am

Middle mouse button clicks are opening new tabs in the foreground irregardless of the "open in background" setting

Just started for me in Build 22

Yes, it had been recorded.
What dfferent with yours is that it opens new tabs in the background irregardless of the "open in foreground " setting.
Are you sure you didn't type it wrong?

I can confirm this for at least the last two builds of the browser. I have always configured it to open in the background on the middle button, and it now consistently switches to be active on that tab. The only thing I've changed in my configuration in that timeframe is that I went back to using online storage instead of storing my bookmarks locally. (something broke on my system with local storage and the handling of IE favorites, big mess).

I just found that creating a new Avant profiles can solve the problem. Can you tryit?

I am also experiencing this but I just discovered before posting this reply that it doesn't happen if I'm using IE-9 as the rendering engine for the page. I normally use Firefox as my default but set Avant pages to render with IE-9.

I always use the middle button/wheel to open new pages (set to open in the background) and since build 21 or 22, they have been opening in the foreground, regardless of the setting in Avant Browser Options (always create new page in the background).

When I came to the forum to check for bugs and fixes, I noticed the threads I was opening were opening in the background, as they should have. When I went back to my other tabs that were rendering in IE, all new tabs opened were opening in the foreground. I just checked Chrome and that's opening new tabs in the foreground, same as Firefox.

Whatever it is, it effects Firefox and Chrome rendering engines in the same way. So for now, I guess I'll have to use IE as my default rendering engine until this gets fixed.

Yes, I just tried it and it solved this problem but it's an annoying way to fix it. If this problem occurs repeatedly, it's going to get real annoying every time I have to do this. At least I figured out how to save and import my URL aliases but it will get tedious going through the Avant Browser Options to reset all my preferences there if this keeps happening.

I hope this is just a one-time thing or the developer can pinpoint the cause and fix it.

Thank you for the suggestion for this fix.

Is it just me or my imagination, but it seems that Avant profiles gets munged a lot resulting in having to delete the profiles.
