2012 build 8 - speed - loading 15 pages at start - gray page

Post by Crazy_John » Sat Nov 19, 2011 3:50 am

Im with some speed problems at start in Avant ultimate , something is not right .
(This is related with the gray screen crash , that i still get some times, usually opening links in the background with videos or pictures... )

I have been doing some tests using the reopen.dat file , loading 15 pages at start (15 pages of the forum) ,
The reopen.dat file goes to the folder:
Application Data\Avant Profiles\.default
the file is below.

the results:

(in the pictures , 2 black box's are 10 secs)

____________________________

Test 1
Avant ult build 8 , 15 pages , Anti-virus ON:
Image
http://img11.hostingpics.net/pics/13023 ... jhkjl1.jpg
the red line is of when i deleted the second avant.exe from the task manager , that was with 99% CPU ,
i deleted it because it was taking allot of time, and probably i would be getting a gray crash page again.
In 5 tries , 1 i got the gray crash screen , 4 it was just loading with the CPU on 99% (waiting for a crash... )

After delete the avant.exe 99% CPU , all works fine.

Test 2
Avant ult build 8 , 15 pages , Anti-virus OFF:
Very big difference.

Test 3
Firefox 8.0.1 original , Anti-virus ON:

Test 4
Firefox 3.6.23 original , Anti-virus ON:

The tests were done with Firefox rendering engine.
I have done some other tests , but lets start with this one.

So, the problem is the slow speed to open pages at startup or the high CPU usage?

The second avant.exe should be loading and showing favicons. Will favicons stop loading after you kill the second avant.exe which consumes 99% of cpu?
If the high cpu has something to do with loading the favicons, can removing the file _sqlite3.dll in the avant browser installation folder(rename it to _sqlite3_bak.dll) reduce the cpu usage?

BTW, what's your Anti-virus?

Please provide the following information before reporting problems:
Avant Version; System(also point out it is a 32 or 64-bit OS);IE; Memory Size; CPU Speed;
Optional: Firewall; Graphics Card

For the problems hard to replay, could you add me into your MSN or Skype list if you use either of them? The advantage is that you can let us know the situation in the first place by making some screenshots, sharing your screen or explaining the specific problems more clearly when they happen.

The problem is the CPU usage and the gray crash page.

(And the slow speed also by the time it takes to crash  )

Yes , favicons stop for that pages , in other words , i don't have favicons in that pages.
Jasmine wrote:BTW, what's your Anti-virus?
ESET Smart Security 4.2.71.2

No , doesn't reduce the CPU usage , still goes to 99% .

But the problem is related with the favicons.
If i already have the favicons of the pages , the browser opens the pages ok.
If i dont have the favicons the problem happens.

Theres 3 options , or this is fixed , or we disable the favicons somehow :P , or i need have all favicons of the internet

You think is possible fix this ? (or just disable the favicons , but im starting to like the favicons thing , i think is better fix it)

Maybe after this be fixed i dont get anymore the gray crash screen , i still get it sometimes.

One link that makes the CPU go to 99% , after click on the + button :
Happens on all pics of that site. After delete the avant.exe 99% CPU all is ok again.
http://www.hostingpics.net

For exemple this pic:
http://www.hostingpics.net/viewer.php?i ... 120723.jpg

If you want reproduce the problem more than 1 time:
•delete the popup that show up and go back
•clear all Records
•Refresh the page
•click on the + button again

Maybe this has to do with favicons also ? :-k

Don't know if it related with your IE6.
I'm using :
XP pro sp3 32 bit
2012 ultimate build 8 -firefox mode
1G ram
IE8
Clear all records, and then open 15 different web sites at the same time, when the second avant.exe appears, the CPU is not more than 56%, mostly 30%~45% and it will last about 5~10 seconds

It is related with IE6.
I installed IE8 and there's no problem , but makes avant so slow here....and i get 5 or 6 avant.exe's using cpu for 20 or 30 seconds , but the pages are available after +\- 10 secs.

Then installed IE7 and no problem also , and till now i didn't noticed any loss of speed compared to IE6 , just have 3 or 4 flashs in the desktop icons when i run ccleaner .

Conclusion , with IE7 its running fine,
but now i have a small problem , i dont have favicons , looks like favicons are completely disabled with IE7 ,
maybe that why its working with IE7 and wasn´t working with IE6.

If someday this works with IE6 , im back to IE6 again :D

Didn't knew that using Avant ultimate firefox rendering , internet explorer was still being used.

Thanks all for the help =D>

I decided to do some tests but this time with Avant USB version and the favicons are working .

Uninstalled IE7 (back to IE6) and did some more tests , without luck ,
installed IE7 again and after changed some profile files back and forward between the ultimate full version and USB version profiles and put all the files back again , now the favicons are working

Its abit weird because i changed some profile files between both and uninstalled\installed IE7 , but at the end i have put all the same files back again as they were before (i did backups of all files, folders , in winrar files ) :P

Btw , here it is:

Test 4
Avant ult build 8 firefox redering , 15 pages , Anti-virus ON , IE7 instaled:

wow , i just found now that if the avant.exe is not on the allowed exe's of the firewall , the favicons dont work (dont show up) .

I think "we" need work on this , so that if we use Avant Ult firefox rendering , we dont need a IE version to make Avant work as it should . :D

Tomorrow will do a request. :)
