rendering problem on 2012 versions

Post by kottis » Thu Nov 17, 2011 4:52 pm

Hello

I tried to upgrade version 2011 build 33 to 2012 build 8 (and earlier 2012 versions) but after the new install build two problems arise.

1.rendering mode from ie9 standards on 33 build now with 2012 version has only two options Internet Explorer 8 standards and Internet Explorer compatibility mode rendering !

ie9 mode disapearred!i have ie9 installed.

2.History data of pages and urls visited is deleted and starts from zero .

However when reverted back to 33build of 2011 history and rendering gets fixed .

Just to mention that history sometimes stops memorizing pages i visited ,i mean it records usually first days of the week and stops recording last days of week visits to pages and this is happening for a couple of months.

I just want to keep history of urls visited and ie9 rendering fix if possible so a compatible with these solution would be appreciated.

Are these 2 remarks avant related or my installation's?

1. Open your IE and go to help->about internet explorer for checking ie version.
2. Open avant browser and go to Tools->avant browser options->auto complete and check"show too colums for the address bar", you'll see the browing history appear in the address bar drop down list.

They have moved history from Temp folder to sites.dat in Avant profiles in 2012 versions. So you have lost them.
3 The stored location of favicons/history changed

We store favicons/history in Temp folder in 2011 versions ; in 2012 version we changed it to Avant profiles-> Favicons.dat/sites.dat

That's strange. Have you tried uninstall avant browser completely and then reinstall it?

@Julien90 you mean avant folder located on c/users/pc name/appdata/roaming/avant profiles/.default and history transfer from temp.dat to sites.dat ?

if so is there a way to import or copy history data to 2012 version again?

@xiaobing no i haven't but before doing so i wonder if uninstalling will also delete bookmarks proxy server lists and history data with no recoverable way after reinstalling.

and you mean uninstall version 2011 or 2012 and reinstall which one?
as written i have reinstalled version 2011 build 33 over 2012 b.8 and history data + ie9 rendering mode came back.

Just in case, you'd better backup the avant profiles folder.

Why not installing avant 2012 directly?
What's your version number of IE9 browser?

Have you tried the ultimate version? You got the same result there?

Is it possible that the rendering engine actually is IE9 but is shown wrongly as IE8?

running browserscope.org recognizes installed version 2012 as ie9
also http://www.lagado.com/proxy-test and http://whoer.net recognize it both as
User-Agent
Mozilla/5.0 (compatible; MSIE 9.0; Windows NT 6.0; Trident/5.0)

so your hypothesis Browserfan_123 seems to be right.

but how this can be explained since avant-tools shows ie8 ?

Had you cleaned up your registry before reinstalled Avant?

Search avant browser in your registry and delete the related entries. That's what I did. :D

i don't know if deleting avant registry will have any impact of browser's data after reinstall (favourites etc)
anyway if it is shown as ie9 and really works as compatible with this then isn't such a problem i guess

major obstacle then for me to upgrade version 2011 to 2012 is history and urls visited total delete.

if it exists a way to fight this loss will be much appreciated and developers i wish they could take care into this

transition i think should be smooth and not losing data that some users may want to be there after upgrade.

As for ie9 being recognized as ie8 I suggest you to reinstall ie9.

For the history disappearing , if you use mozilla firefox rendering engine by defaut, I'm afraid the history saving path is different from ie's. Can switching to ie rendering mode make them reappear?

Please provide the following information before reporting problems:
Avant Version; System(also point out it is a 32 or 64-bit OS);IE; Memory Size; CPU Speed;
Optional: Firewall; Graphics Card

For the problems hard to replay, could you add me into your MSN or Skype list if you use either of them? The advantage is that you can let us know the situation in the first place by making some screenshots, sharing your screen or explaining the specific problems more clearly when they happen.
